Probably an rs5

I`m probably going to get this red rs5 next .

Seems like a reasonable option . 2012 , 44 k km , still in warranty , bang & olufsen and all the usual bling.
Steel brakes which is a plus for me.

First things I`ll be looking for are : cover , 18 inch wheels, brake pads, brake lines , brake discs .

Things Ive noted : same braking system as the rs4 . Might be interesting for rs4 users to retrofit wave brake discs. dunno if theyre directional . I`m familiar with the 8 pot gt calipers . very good . Interesting to see how it stacks up . The car is very heavy and the breaking point is tire grip not braking system friction .

Almost same engine. Havent gotten round to verify part numbers. If some rs4 ancillaries are the same Ill probably go for a lw pulley .

Twin intakes means no choke point on intake side. twin intakes also means two nitrous nozzles . Got to look at manifold opened up and see if it will cause puddling and is prone to porting and polishing.

Exhaust is still under 2.5 inch diameter . bummer. will have to look into making my own. Mufflers and getting resonance out are a bitch . Obviously no cats .

Tune is going to be easier . Med 17.x ecu has already been cracked by RBN tuning (gt28rs 1.8 tsi) .
As Arin put it … there arent a lot of gains you can make out of a 450 hp 4.2l n/a engine. Instead well look for de-restricting , launch , no cat cel elimination , nitrous safeguards.

7 speed gearbox sounds cool . I think hp under 600 (stock + tune + 150 hp nitrous) is going to be ok .

If the engine geometry is same as the rs4 (outside , not internals) i`ll look into dropping a supercharger. not in the near future though.

Bang and olufsen . Well how do I start. I like to think Im an audiophile . I also like to think I know what Im doing when I modify customers car for better sound. After cracking open a few brand name systems and finding speakers with magnets the size of coins Im not impressed. Its got a mmi 3g which means most communications (fiber optic) .
Looking if I can add a mobridge da1 (or da2) at the same time with the oem amp. I just want the front door speakers and subwoofer for now. If its possible . If it isnt Im not sure what to do. Got a leftover bit-one , a t8004 and a 33wx2 sub which Id like to add to a custom enclosure.

I still have the nitrous kit leftover from the rs4. probably going in when I can be bothered to splice into the ecu harness. (requires hardwiring) .

Other than that … 2012 facelift ?
Carbon fiber parts ? (for looks, a 2 door coupe at 1800 kg is not going to 1400kg without major surgery)

Looks very nice. How bout a supercharger? TTS, APR or hold out for JHM

If I were to muster up about 10k (ish) usd for a supercharger it would need to be :
Scalable (rotrex supercharger is not , apr eaton 1320 used on the rs4 is not) so it`s down to aviva instruments with the tvr1900 .
RBN -tuning does my tunes.

No point in waiting for jhm to release a part that is not in the works even .
Rs5 has different mounting points/geometry , the rs4 jhm system with v3sci doesn`t fit.

JHM have had the supercharger on their own RS4 already, and are already installing it on a customer car…however for the RS5 that’s likely a while away. Same however goes for amd. That’s not happening any time soon.

As for scalability, I am comfortable that the vortech is stronger than the RS5.

If pre-face smashed RS5 6MT was available here…

Again. JHM have a centrifugal supercharger on the front of the rs4 in place of the aux radiator on the passenger side. I think that the mounting plate and other ancillaries dont fit on the rs5. However, if the exterior dimensions are about the same (rs4 bns engine vs rs5) it would be a whole lot easier to slap the amd/aviva instruments twin screw kit onto the engine. Sure , twin intakes are a difference. Im confortable I can get that sorted.
I hope you see how it would be easier to draw through two throttle valves than it would be to blow through two throttle valves . (most cars with two intakes use two superchargers) .

you sounded like the amd was imminent for the RS5. They said their retail release was going to be July, but havent seen anything that says they’re ready for the RS4 even. Sounds like they’re still testing and tuning. Good point about the twin intake.

Why don’t you buy the Apr RS5 kit (that is far closer than anyone else)?

you know what…the S5 facelift vs. the original S5 I can see your point. IT’s not really that awesome.

However on the RS5, the facelift looks sensational. To me it makes the original RS5 look a bit old school. Same as the new RS4 beside a B7…the B7 looks prehistoric lol.

Remark about jhm = remark about v3sci (or si ) which is the supercharger unit they use .

I can just get the parts from the amd kit less the tune .

lol that’ll make you the fastest AMD car in all likeihood (NOT having EPL tune it)

nobody (AMD included) is close to an RS5 supercharger other than APR at this point. Why haven’t you addressed their upcoming kit?

Your tune in all likelihood was smart enough to try to keep the hit safe. On top of that the RS4 engine is pretty damn solid. I don’t know of anyone who has blown an engine from power levels, and the only rod I’ve seen bent was the guy who money shifted and ended up with a belly full of metal.

Then again not a lot of nitrous or blown rs4

Enough blower cars. Tts has a few.dozen kits out there and they’re making a good 480 500 whp

The MTM kits are only making TVs 1320 power in the 425 whp range.

The twin turbo and TVS1900 R8 cars however have certainly been exposed to some power…and again I have not heard any bad news trickle out of those platforms.
