Project Audi V10 5.2 performance. S6 / S8

The V10 5.2 Audi was a car I’ve always wanted since it first came out. The usual saying is “it’s a 4 door Audi with a Lamborghini motor in it.” While we all know that’s not exactly the truth, I figured why not do what we can to make that true. I plan on really making something of my V10 5.2, what a better place than here and what better people than the people on this site to share and get ideas on whats going to work best. I’ve been lucky enough to be part of several projects many of them listed on here. If you’re interested and have several hours to burn.

There have been several others but that is a good start.

I’ve had my S8 (I know this is the S6 section) for quite a while and I’ve done quite a few things that I think owners here might be interest in. I have plans to take the car further than where it currently is now.

Some of the exciting things I’ve done are

The JHM intake spacers
The JHM Lightweight crank pulley - almost 9lbs of weight savings.
The JHM Lightweight brake rotors front and back - weight savings you wouldn’t believe
JHM beta ECU and TCU tune.
Full custom 3" exhaust
Carbon clean
SAI removal
Fuel filter
Up-date plugs and coil packs.
Oil change and fluid assessment.
Compression test
Cylinder inspection

The list goes on but it ends right now with track testing in the 1/4 mile with what I understand to be the fastest D3 S8 all motor car if not overall fastest. Don’t get too excited it’s not as fast as I’d like it but its a lot faster than stock.

I figured with so much excitement over here in the S6 section that there would be a few guys who might enjoy the outline and work I’ve done so far. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you have any. That’s the entire point of this thread.

Well that answered my question from the other thread :). Got me excited, now I have a test drive scheduled for one with 58k miles but perfect combo and options and solid price…if you don’t mind me asking about how much was the car and mods all in (retail)

Oh and btw, what was your 1/4 time stock, and then after the mods. I have some guesses but don’t want to jump the gun :slight_smile:

Very cool teaser thread.

I think the idea of an open conversation with the membership on the performance aspect of the car is a great idea.

The one thing that I think is helpful is looking to see what if any actual 1/4 mile times are out there for the S8 and S6 from what I have seen most of these cars are 14 second cars no matter what the magizines say. I have yet to see a real 13 second pass from any of the V10 cars. Even the car mags say the cars are 13 second cars but I have yet to see one tested

I’ve heard A LOT about the ECU tune and TCU tune… and you had my curiosity and now sir have sparked my attention… MORE DETAILS please… and how and when will these be available?

Can we get a video link in this thread for the sound from your custom exhaust? Properly done headers, with resonators (not cats!) on a 3" exhaust with this motor is barely louder than stock. Amazing!!

Sorry for the delay. There was a series of events that has kept me from being able to get to several things. I will make sure to make an effort to get back in here and get some updates. Also, when I have projects for people I make sure to put those as a priority first so, every now and then internet stuff gets a little backed up. I’ll make sure to get on this tonight or this weekend so keep checking in.

I have one with the same catback but with the oem manifolds without cats. It didn’t sound good, once you remove the cats the exhaust gets kinda poppy. If I can find the video I’ll post that as well.

Yes, this has been in testing for a while. Both ECU and TCU. For now they are still in testing but I believe JHM is taking on beta testers. if you’re interested and wish to get on the beta testing list E mail V10@jhmotorsports.com

My team and I have a fab shop in the metro Detroit area where we have been making these exhaust systems for several of the V10 S6 S8 and R8 guys for a while. If you’re interested let me know. I’m happy to help anyone on AR with a system if they would like one.
