Is this first of chain worries in the FSI engines? Either way the Count/jhm ftw for fixing it as part of the build.
there go my dreams of an s5. dont want to deal with that head ache again.
hahaha just one guy whose dealer screwed something up.
I haven’t heard of any FSI cars needing a chain job. The RS4 that is the fastest full bolt on RS4 on earth has 140,000 miles on it. Chains are awesome.
Fair enough - is that 2000s4’s RS4 with 140k mi? That’s awesome.
Not at 140000 yet but I am at 110000 and still running strong
are your serious? thats awesome? my s5 dream is back on. OR should i save for an apr stage 3+ kit for my gti, or what about the NSX i always wanted? the possibilities are endles…

big turbo GTI will be boring within a couple months.
small motor/big turbo guys quite often ditch the platform and move on within 12 months. It’s weird.
I noticed this too, even if it’s running fine they move to something else, not necessarily faster, just different. I only personally know 1 person with a BT that has kept his pretty much the exact same for a couple years now.
I’m one of those who ditched it after 12ish months (GLI though) although I got pissed/annoyed after the tuner decided their “race/rod upgrade file” would be delayed by 3 (still not out) years after telling me it would be 2 weeks for a new calibration. (I was one of the early ones to do it on a DSG). After some hiatus it will be back this season with a proper tune and finally being re-plumbed and setup for W/M and then a bigger turbo/new manifold and then… and then…
This thread is awesome, very interested in seeing where the true potential of these 4.2’s is! The engineering is astonishing to make things fit in these cars!
Really excited to see more on this. Where is the project at, stage wise?
2 weeks? That can only mean one company.

Well it isn’t a company that has a 3 letter name and it is neither one of the canadian tuners SO…
oh really? I remember hearing a very similar story from a TT owner about APR. Guess lots of folks love the 2 weeks thing.

lots of fun battling back and forth with their pitbull on the forums. APR released a fully redesigned Stage 4 kit faster than R*** was able to release a upgraded file to actually push the setup. May as well have gone with a K04 with the power that was given and not wasted the money on tearing apart a motor.
They had done this amazing tune for one car in the US that pushed close to or over 500hp and then refused to do anything for anyone else. MOST of the BT cars from this tuner have either been parted or have switched to Unitronic.
Would love to see an update on this…Was one of the best threads on here…pure tech, no he-said she-said crap…
I would like to see an update here too.
I noticed that the guys didn’t take apart the cowl wall. You can take the middle section of the cowl wall out which makes getting the top four trans bolts a LOT easier if you have to pull the transmission. It is kind of like a service position for the rear of the engine and top of the transmission. This was a big change for the B8 body style and Audi has been using it on the other models after too like the A8s and the A6/A7s.
If you guys could come out with a clutch alignment tool for the B8s then I would buy it in a heartbeat. I replaced a clutch on a B8 S4 with the clutchmasters six puck unit and they don’t supply an alignment tool even though there is a picture for one so I had to spend an hour trying to center up the disk by eyeballing it. The dealership didn’t have a clutch alignment tool either.
It is hidden with the engine and trans on the table but there is a service opening on the bottom of the front of the transmission bell housing. There is a small black plastic cover that just pops out so that a tech can remove the short twelve point 16mm bolts holding the flywheel and clutch or torque converter to the engine. That way a tech can remove the transmission with the flywheel and clutch or torque converter attached. I like that way a lot more than having to pull the starter to get out the torque converter bolts like on the older automatic cars. These are the short twelve point 16mm bolts I am talking about:

Unforntunately I believe this project has been put on the back burner, however they intend to complete it ASAP…probably 2013.

Many updates on this coming soon. This car has been up and running for a long time. JHM has also gotten its own S5 for production and further product testing.
