Purchased SPC upper control arms - what do I need for lowers?

I’d like to go ahead and do everything at once…pretty much make it new.

Would you guys do just the joint replacements? (I have a press)…or buy new lowers, swaybar links, tie-rod ends and hardware? In either case, what’s the best deal for not junk parts

PS - I’d like to buy somewhere other than ECS so let’s leave them off the suggestion list.

Did you buy upper adjustables?

I’d buy the full kit (034) probably… and then sell the uppers on the forums. Those uppers pretty much fit all B6/7 A4/S4/RS4s. You should be able to offer them for a little less than someone can buy them for and you’ll make your money back.

I’m not disappointed with the ride quality at this point. Will 034 make it rougher?

you can’t just press out the ball joints, the whole control arms serviced as a unit. That being said any name brand kit like 034, febi, trw, lemforder should have good quality stuff, I’m running fcpeuro lowers and they seem to be holding up and before I knew any better I bought uro parts uppers, they have a 2 year warranty and still havnt fucked up yet however I wouldn’t buy them again. I’m really pleased with fcp and the fact that if it fucks up, I call them up and they send me a new one and the stuff even though its cheap seems to stand up to our terrible terrible roads.

Also…does anyone know the difference between bushings for a convertible vs a hardtop? Rockauto has different numbers for cabs.

Well crap. They sell the bushings separately which led me to believe I could service the whole control arm. So the bushings can be swapped but not the balljoints? damn.

I went through the same issue, it didn’t make sense for me to buy the bushings and press them as I also needed new balljoints, I ordered the 034 density line complete front control arm kit with the updated tie rod ends, I also bought the 034 Adjustable upper control arm kit, then parted out the upper control arms from the density line kit. I was able to get $200 bucks for them locally, as 034 sells just the uppers for $229.00 as a kit.

Is there a difference for the cab? RockAuto lists them differently.

My FCP arms have been fine. They’re $75/set for the uppers and I think $200/set for the lowers.
