Good afternoon,
I’ve recently been doing some research and found several videos and forums demonstrating the possibility of activating Apple CarPlay in Audi vehicles, specifically in some A7 models equipped with the MMI system (version 3G+, in most cases).
From what I’ve observed, the procedure involves inserting an SD card into the SD1 slot with a specific MMI firmware update. Once the update is complete, the system reboots, and the Apple CarPlay icon appears in the main menu. From there, simply connect the iPhone via cable, and the CarPlay interface will automatically activate on the vehicle’s display.
My question is:
Is this type of activation possible in our vehicles with a similar MMI system (3G+ or higher)?
Does this procedure only require an SD update, or is additional coding via VCDS or ODIS also necessary? And finally, would an additional hardware module be required, or is this type of integration fully functional with the standard equipment?
I appreciate any technical guidance you can offer. I’ve described the procedure in general terms, so if necessary, I can provide the exact details for my vehicle’s MMI system version.
Regards,
