These cars are owned by Porsche. The new C2S is a fucking beast - doesn’t feel like a turbo at all, has the great 6 cylinder sound, thunders along like a freight train, is fast enough to scare the shit out of you. The 718S was not fast at all and underwhelming, made a high pitch whistling turbo sound instead of the 911’s whisper-whoosh. I wouldn’t trade in a 981 for a 718. I would basically do anything for a C2S with ceramic brakes. 95% as good as a GT3, and more practical.

Negative. They sound like shit.

BMW inline six and Porsche flat six have a really nice resonance, a very metallic sound. Audi 90 degree V6 not as much, though I’m not complaining.

Lol right. Every Porsche driver lifts so they can hear a 2005 S4 4.2 go by.

You never fail to act like a snobby piece of shit, as if the age, or your perceived cost/value of said car has anything to do with how great they sound. Fact - V6s sound like complete shit. Doesn’t matter if it’s a $2k B5 S4 or a $200k Porsche. Another fact - my car, and I’d be willing to bet Jimmy’s too, cost more than both your Porsche and your S4. I know you’re retarded so I’ll specify that I’m now saying combined.

McLaren V6 - sounds pretty darn good
Jaguar V6 - sounds really fucking good
GT-R - not bad
FordGT V6 - sounds fucking epic
Alfa Romeo Guilia V6 - sounds pretty good

If you think the v6’s above sound like shit, then you need yer ears checked son.

I agree. especially compared to a high revving V8/10/12. Compared to a civic with a fart can they may have that “really nice resonance, a metallic sound…” whatever the fuck that means

It’s an inline 6 in the BMW case, and an H6 in the Porsche case. I agree the firing order and sound on a V6 is not always stellar, but ends up being decent in the uncorked 3.0TFSI.

Agree on the snob thing. But let’s get real you just said a $130k Porsche sounds like garbage. Not a single customer or automotive journalist who has driven it would agree with you.

;D ;D ;D

a 2005 S4 4.2 with a good exhaust sounds better than any 6 cylinder porsche I’ve ever heard…and I’ve got friends who’ve owned them all (GT3, RS, turbo, C4s etc) so I’ve spent plenty of time in them, tailing them, them tailing me etc.

For me the best sounding one was a 996 C4s. That’s not saying much lol.

For the record, there are 2 guys on my old street with 911 variants, and both have commented how they love hearing my car go by.

Most 911 owners are realistic about how their cars sound. Most 911 wannabe owners put them on a pedestal and think they’re the greatest, which is an understandable emotional bias, but emotional bias does not = fact.

They’re excellent cars. But they sound like shit (relatively) compared to good V8 or V10 or I5 sound. Same with your car.

the GT-R has a cool sound.

THe new Ford GT doesn’t exist so none of us have heard it yet. The first one just rolled off the assembly lines yesterday. Mclaren? lol ok. We’ll all hear one of those soon.

Basically you made Jimmy’s point for him. It’s a real workout coming up with a 6 cylinder car that’s palatable.

I think it’s different. I guess a Panamera V8 sounds good. Maserati Quattroporte ruled them all until it went turbo. Basically a Ferrari motor with a tubi sport exhaust. You can hear it from half a mile away.

The cult following of Porsche engines is they’re rear or mid engine, have really short exhaust lengths, the firewall is really thin, and even a brand new one feels like some old hot rod. It’s loud, you can smell oil burning as you get out of the car, it’s raspy, etc. It’s a whole group of sensations you get together. Which is why the 718 is falling flat with existing customers, but will still sell well because people have money.

Not gonna lie, totally did. I can’t say I dislike V6’s for the sound though. Generally I save that kind of nose-turning for fartpiped I4’s and H4’s.

Hahaha QFT. I cannot imagine going back to a V6 - I’m never getting rid of my car.

the quattroporte was just loud due to a non-restrictive exhaust. Put an aftermarket exhaust on any V8 and you’re getting into similar sound. I don’t think the qporte sounded great though. Just loud. Like a Mercedes C63…the old 6.2. They’re just plain loud but it wasn’t my favourite sound. A bit frappy. I didn’t even know they went turbo. When was that?

The Ferrari flat crank engines sound world’s different to the quattroporte’s traditional V8. I wouldn’t make the ‘ferrari engine’ comment because it’s just not accurate.

I get the sensations you’re referring to with the porsche lineup. Nobody is questioning the merit of the cars. Remember we’re talking about their sound. The smell and feel and wonderful performance don’t make it sound better.

Negative. They sound like shit.
