Yeah I went once. It wasnt good. 13.00 with a 2.9 or something 60 foot. Dumped it at 4k and it just bogged, tried slipping it at a low RPM and it bogged. Some experienced guys told me its near impossible to get a good launch on the type of drag radials I have. So I’m going to buy a cheap 15" wheel setup with some real Hoosiers. Also my transmission is still really messed up. It’s just worn out, it doesn’t want to go into third, I have to wait for the revs to come down for it to slide in. Twice it popped out of third under full load at the strip. And 4th no longer engages because the syncro is 100% gone. So I’m frustrated with it for the year, so it’s going into storage and getting a built trans for next year.

It’s not all the car of course. A high power RWD car is a different ball game. Seat time is everything. It’s the difference between me running a 13.0 and some experienced guys running a 11.3 with a 1.6x 60’ with the exact same setup. It’s humbling

For now I’m enjoying not having the car insured at $120 a month lol

True statement. I had a buddy with a nice bolt on 01 WS6 that went 12.4x at the strip. It was a built auto with a pretty decent stall…line lock…almost gas it and go when the tree drops, he wanted a manual so he found a guy with a built manual and they decided to do a complete swap. Long story short, he sucks at driving a manual transmission car ESPECIALLY at the drag strip. I have seen him struggle to run mid 13s and to date I think his best pass is a 13.2…lol

I shat myself test driving a mustang and an m3. Rwd is not for me

^^^you realise how quattro has ruined you.

I used to drive RWD cars and not think it was a big deal. Then I switched to the Audis.

When I swap cars with friends who have RWD MB or M or sports cars, I’m always blown away how easy it is to lose traction (or more importantly, howe skillfull it needs to be to go extremely fast)

That’s why the whole world of people crying about the dragstrip annoy me, how they’re always saying it’s so driver dependant blah blah blah.

We drive AWD Audis. It’s hard to PERFECT a launch in an AWD Audi, but it’s easy to go 95% of the way to perfect…unless you’re really shit.

Of all the guys I’ve been to the strip with in their Audis (about 50) every one of them is cutting a respectable launch by the end of their 4th or 5th pass. It’s not rocket surgery.

Lot of guys were telling me to just slip the clutch off the line and play with the pedals. Like a fast street car. However I have a Centerforce DFX which is designed for on or off. Like what you’d do with a real drag radial.

Starting to sound like a B5 guy, Joe…

Except I will actually resolve the issue and go back the strip.

The B5 guys would just decide that the car is not meant for the dragstrip.

And then post some 60-130 times + a 1.354 sec FATS time
