Dude…make some longer videos.

I love watching vids of our cars. Just make sure its not 3 minutes with 2.5 minutes of waiting for your car to return. Edit out the dead air.

Yeah I am going to make a really good one with launches, donuts, in-car pulls, etc. Just can’t find the time to do it. That one I just whipped up with my iPhone. I was trying to capture a new issue I have in 1st gear pulls…battery light comes on during a pull

^dude tonight said you took him for a spin and did one launch. . . he said “. . . I will not be forgetting that experience for a long long time” haha

Does the alternator whine/ can you hear the belt squeak when you shift? I had the same issue and it ended up being the bearings for the alternator pulley shaft siezing closed

lol yeah he wanted to go for a ride. I did a few small pulls and he almost made a mess in my seats. He like the launch too but it was a bad one. Just spun the tires.

No I don’t hear anything like that. I looked at the belt from the top and it still looks pretty new so it doesn’t look pre-maturely worn. The car has a fresh(9k old) tensioner, idler, and the lwcp. Belt is an OEM.

I’m having a hard time reproducing the issue. It only happens maybe 1/10 pulls and so far, just in 1st gear. I would think if it was a bearing it would do it every time, not to mention it would be getting worse.

I’d say the light comes on at around 3000 rpm and goes to redline. So it’s slipping somehow, because it only does it in the violent upswing of first gear. I haven’t checked if it will do it during a hard standstill rev.

well the bearing can be starting to go back, it heats up when it spins hard and slows down enough to trip the battery light. Try logging battery voltage and see if it dips.

That’s what I was thinking too, good idea ^^.

Is it possible it could be something simple/silly? A loose connection that looses contact during really hard launches then makes contact again? Is your battery securely fastened? Loose terminal connection? Ground wire? Just thinking out loud, if it’s intermittent it always makes me think a loose connection somewhere.

I managed to cut my alternator ground strap about in half by it rubbing on the sai pump bracket, so definitely a possibility.

gotta check my notes but you could check potential between the + on the alt and - on the battery to see if that connection is poor (with car running). Check output of alt, check potential across the bat should be similar

1:40 is where it gets better.

I have never seen anything like that. Sick!

I love the sound change from when the car is facing the camera to when the rear goes past it.

I remember going to summernats down in Canberra (its like h20 and waterfest, but with Aussie muscle cars mostly) anyway they have drags and burnout comp. When the day was over I was burnt like a lobster and had bits of rubber stuck all over my face. Great time

Lol

Someone’s lucky he landed wheels down. It took the “rescue” people quite some time to make it over to the car. I guess he took the wrong line…oops.

Hopefully going to look at it Thursday if I have time. Any idea what block battery voltage is?

It’s in the block that looks suspiciously like a multimetre … :hides: ;D
