rear brake install required VAGCOM?

I’ve got F&R replacement rotors and pads and in searching for a shop to do the work I’ve gotten mixed answers. I’ve had shops tell me they can do the job but I want to be sure they can do so correctly. Is it correct that to push the rear calipers back in a VAGCOM is required to release the rear pistons? I don’t want someone blowing up my calipers in bench vice or with a C-clamp.

Thanks!

this is the one I assume

You need vcds or Carista to do the rear brakes. You can also use a 12v battery to retract the piston but it’s not the correct way to do it. Once the parking brake is retracted you use a c clamp to compress the cylinder back.

Might me a little late but check part of the way. down iits easy once you see it.
