Recharging the a/c?

Hey when I keep my ac on 60- 70 it comes out warm but when I put it on LO it comes out ice cold. Think I need a recharge?
There’s not really a middle. Either full hot or full cold.

Any suggestions? Thanks

sounds more like a temperature control issue. If it is coming out ice cold on low that means the system is working and you shouldn’t need a recharge. Ideally you want the temperature coming out of the vents to be 30 degrees colder than the outside air temp when running on max cool

Check your HVAC in vag-com see if there are any codes. I experienced something similar.

thanks for the tip guys. i actually should of gave you more details but when i stated it “not working right” it was 48 degrees that morning with 90% humidity. really nasty so 60-70 wasn’t that cold. later that day the outside temp went to 68 degrees where 60-70 on the climate control came out as it should,(operating to spec)

also my friend in a b8 s4 did the same test after reading this thread and came back with the same results so i assume normal. and we are neighbors so ambient temps were the same

Allow me to resurrect this thread!! ;D

I think I may need a recharge. I turned down the temp to LO and ran it for at least 10min and it never got cold.

I might check to make sure AC compressor is connected (had engine work done and possible it just didn’t get reconnected).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Should have also mentioned there are no codes in the HVAC module.

You cab look at the ac compresser in vagcom. See if its running. You can get a refill at your local parts store. Its east to do.
