REMAP of the ECU question.

Do I need a remap of my ECU?
I changed my air filter to the K&N and I know its a higher flow filter.
I have also changed my exhaust encluding the catalytic converters.
Higher flow CATS and about 60mm downpipes and exhaust.

I feel that the car sometimes uses the extra power it has when it wants but not all the time.

Is there a way to reset the mass airflo sensor and throttle body or is a remap needed?

Also since the exhaust has been changed to a larger exhaust is there something I need to do
to get more HP there?
I know the HP is more.
Is there a way to maximise it?

Its the 2003 A4 AVK 3.0L 30V V6…

I know its a lot of questions try and help by answering parts at a time?

Thanks…

You came to the right place.

Do you NEED and ECU update? No
Will you get the most out of your mods without a ECU update that addresses these mods. NO

Thats one of the things thats great about the JHM testing. There working to find the new limits and changes for each stage.

The cookie cutter files just are not going to work.

What your feeling is the TQ limits in the ECU kicking on.

We know your not getting the most out of your mods without ECU support. What do you do. take your ECU out and send it to JHM. make a list of your mods first.

One other thing to add. I would check the location of your CAT. This is rather important.

I can personally agree and say first hand Ive seen the same thing as the OP. It might be even more pronounced on the S5. There was a large change after the JHM ECU update.

These computers seem to be very prone to pull back power past a certian limit.

I find it laughable when people say its just fuel and timing. Maybe thats why there are so many other slow cars out there and most tunes don’t do much.

Simply adding parts won’t add hp, past a set limit. Even adjusting a few things wont give you the cars full potential. Each car has its set of limits and finding the hardware limit that effects the software intervention is where you need to start.
