Replaced headlight bulbs... Still have issues.

Hey guys,

I replaced my headlight bulbs three days ago with DDM tuning’s d1s bulb.
They worked flawlessly for a couple days, and then last night leaving the gym my right side wouldn’t fire up. If I switched my lights on and off ~15-20 times it would fire on, now it won’t at all.

Is it possible I got a defective bulb? Could some wiring have jarred loose?

Not too happy, and not looking forward to ripping that light out again.

Try swapping the bulbs and if the issues switches sides too then its the bulb, go from there.

I am assuming that you have a B7 right? You probably need a ballast for the right side.

First as SCS4 said try swapping the bulbs but in my experience if you just replaced the bulbs and then still have issues then you need a ballast. As a general rule with the Xenons: flickering then going out means you have a bad bulb and completely not working is a ballast.

Best of luck and the ballasts are not cheap either.

I’m pretty sure the ballasts used are the same ones used on some chrysler cars. You can actually get them from a dodge/chrysler parts counter and they’re much much cheaper. Theres a few threads about this over on AZ, try looking around there.

IIRC B6/7 ballasts are different. The Chrysler/Dodge ballasts only work for the B6.

it seems to be temperature related… Now that the temperature is above 5 degrees C they work just fine?

^^Sounds like ballasts to me. When its cold out the ballasts have to “work harder” to push current through the bulbs.
