Not that I ever doubted Arin’s information back in the Gary@REVO days but it’s nice to see Stasis/Revo actually admit that their old methods required soldering…

This all came about right around the TD1 thing so people wanted to know.

Soldering would not stop me from getting tuned.

Automatic TD1 would.

Stasis calls Audi and tells them you have the tune. Anyone who gets the tune think they are minimizing their risk, but in essence it is creating more than the competitors.

Do you really want Joe Revo Dealer messing around with a soldering iron on your $1500 ecu? Compare to APR’s old approach with the CCD which was fairly dummy-proof.

That said, what gets me more was that Gary wouldn’t just come right out and admit it and persisted with non-denials and yelling “FUD” at every turn.

Perhaps things have changed since the Stasis merger, but a lot of things about Revo just struck me as hackjob quick and dirty back then, including their tuning strategies as evidenced by their logs.

I’m talking about the REVO days when they did solder. Physical evidence of ECU tampering isn’t going to help with TD1 evasion. Stasis is a definite TD1.

Never been a fan of the Stasis “warranty” nor the company in general. Only reason I have their exhaust is because I was stuck between a rock and a hard place at the time of purchase. It will be sold and replaced with Milltek or another custom setup one of these days.

Was it said to cast fear uncertainty or doubt on the competition? Simple. I’m not saying I want ‘joe revo dealer’ to solder anything. I’m just saying when a competitor says it, it’s a FUD campaign.

The guy from stratmosphere, or now known as John from Roc Euro used to do the EXACT same shit regarding the JHM shifter. He would say the Strat shifter is better because you don’t have to scratch up and destroy your interior to install it (referring to the JHM shifter which required you to pull out the shifter trim, something a 12 year old could do without ‘scratching or destroying’ anything).

I just can’t figure out how they pay for it, it doesn’t make financial sense unless they have some insurance underwriter that ponies up but especially now given the new hardline approach no one would ever cover that sort of thing.

I still haven’t reflashed my car after the last fiasco with audi (even though there is now a tsb stating that the fluid is corroding the seals on the electronics of the mechatronics, still doesn’t mean they will fix it) for the sheer fact that if it fails again, the “chip” hasn’t been on the car since they put in a new unit.

I thought it was SWANKY, a former B7 S4 owner who switched over to the B8 S4 a while back. He signed up here but denied it was him. I’d believe him…SWANKY would tell you straight up.

That swankperfection guy is angry at APR, angry at REVO…has he had a go at GIAC?

Does he own a B8? Or something else?
