Revo on the B8

Saw this and have been trying to find out if it’s truly this easy out of the box:

I’m not naive but only have a couple years experience on Audi’s plus, if it’s too good to be true…
…but I’m almost regretting not picking up a B8. I mean what’s not to like? In force warranty, same power or better, great looks, bla bla bla…

I read a couple of threads that indicated it’s not so straight forward - actual ongoing horror stories.
So what’s the real deal?

Not sure if serious on some points? Warranty? LOL Same power or better, sure with no safeguards and some blown motors…

search is your friend. That video was discussed here last year. Also, that car didn’t just do a flash at the side of the track. They put a new exhaust on . They put a new intake on. Then they flashed the REVO software, which is grounds for voiding your Audi powertrain warranty (although that car had none left). Take his enthusiasm with a grain of salt…he was paid to say all that shit.

REVO has done a great job of squeezing power out of the B8 S4, but some say they have taken on what many consider unsafe practices in order to do so. Who cares about the rest. Kind of a non-starter. Tsivas and auditude shares lots of great parameter logging information about REVO here over the past 2 years. Auditude’s dad change from REVO to GIAC not long after. That should say a lot.

As for regretting not buying a B8…your B7 Rs4 responds very similarly to the B8 S4 when you give the RS4 a JHM tune, downpipes and catback. And you’re driving an extremely rare and sought after car that many (including the guy yammering through that video) consider Audi’s greatest feat.

Here…this is what happens when you modify your RS4. These are all on pump gas and street tires. Remedial for some, but valuable for others to see. I’m still surprised that people seem completely out of the loop on RS4 performance, even RS4 owners  .

Still think you’re missing out?

Thanks Saki and Prime. you guys have the response buttons on rapid fire… lol

I’m well aware of the kits for the RS4 (especially have my eye on JHM, if ever a boat load of disposable cash lands on my lap and lots of time to track it). As mentioned, I’m not naive - nothing is free and I suspected the tune maybe risky when the video shows a beat up (albeit still great looking) B8 Avant. Thanks for the confirmation.

^^^^^THIS

The B7 RS4 is still one of my favorite Audi’s. There’s a couple dudes crusing around my hood in these and everytime I see them the old pulse rate goes up a bit. I contemplated going from my B6 S4 to a B7 RS4, but settled on the fact that I wanted something a little newer and forced induction from the factory.

As for Revo, it’s a strong tune. I’ve had a few runs with a buddy who’s got it on his B8 6MT. I’m DSG with APR Stg 1 and he still gets me from a roll. But, the associated risk factor that Saki mentions, was the main reason I went with APR. Plus, there’s always Stg 2 and hopefully a Stg 3 option in the APR barn.

Anyway, enjoy your RS. Great car!!!

If you don’t already have the jhm tune get it…still mamzed how bigof a difference it makes…

Folks, I must have been really tired yesterday since my typing seemed to outpace my rational thought. My original post “…but I’m almost regretting not picking up a B8.” is pretty f’ing retarded.

I spent 1.5 years specifically looking for the “perfect”, low mileage RS4, with the colours I wanted (actually second choice - wanted Pupaya or Glut but couldn’t find any). To say I would have considered a B8 S4 is untrue. I am definitely a diehard B7 RS4 owner and thanks for reminding me of that…

I am seriously considering the JHM tune. I have a lot of work coming up in the next few months so it will definitely affordable. No warranty left so I don’t care about TD1 either…

Thanks again.

Let me know if you have any questions regarding the JHM Tuning!

I do Jake!!! When can I can a JHM tune for my B8 S4

Good question.

Also when is Jason going to run a b8 s4 with full JHM bolt ons (test pipes, exhaust, lwfr lwfr, etc? Use skidrowe. He is local and is already Apr stage 2.

Will do !
