REVOLUTIONARY RESULTS - Dragstrip database update notification thread

I think a little better DA would go a long way. There is a noticeable bump in power as soon as the temp dips below 60. The lowest it got was 65 on Wednesday and to me the car felt only average.

I have messed around with that and found the same thing. Shifting at 6500-6600 gives me the best results. On my best run I did short shift 1-2 at 6000 so I probably left a little ET on the table there. In car video here.

On previous trips when I was running my other wheel/tire combo I would almost always use LA. Sometimes it would bog, sometimes it would break the tires loose but never better than a 1.93 and just didn’t feel like I was getting a good launch. When not using it I tried launching between 3500-4000 with similar results. Back then I might have had an intake flap issue tho.

I did notice the track was in MUCH better shape than any other time I’ve gone. There wasn’t any gravel or shredded rubber being picked up on hot tires. On my best 60’s without LA I was trying to dump the clutch at about 3300 on the upswing.

EDIT: I looked through my slips and videos and did get a 1.82 with LA on one of my runs.

Thanks man, that’s some good insight. You’re right about it being forever since some exciting results. Has anyone else broke into the 12’s in the last two years?

Great 60’ and trap speeds look good for you mods. I guess it just takes some seat time and nailing the shifts at the right point.

My best 60 was 1.78 with LA so you are great there, but on my 12.86 run…

                Me You Difference

330’ 5.32 5.52 .2
1/8 8.23 8.57 .34
1/8-1/4 4.63 4.77 .14

Looks like your losing most of your time the first half of the track.

I’m just glad to see an NA S4 guy out there trying, it’s been forever since anyone has done something exciting.

How come? Not even once?

Driving sounded ok. Maybe just a DA bump and a good launch and you’re there. I went 12.99 @107 with a very similar modlist to you (same colour even!) it I had pretty much perfect conditions. About -300 da and no wind, sunny track for grip. That was almost my best of 15 passes that day. Everything else was 13.05 or slower.

Something lots of guys don’t get a chance to do is to play with shift points. Shifting at about 6600 or so was best for me. I learned that from Jason @ JHM.
I had never managed better than a 1.93 60’ and would either bog or blow off the tires if I tried launching at a higher RPM.
Higher than which rpm… You didn’t say.

I had success at around 3200-3400 but my best times were with launch assist. Consistently 1.82-1.85

Edit:nevermind the la question, just saw where you described it.

just euro, jfunkey and myself going NA in the B7 S4, and I think the other carolina guy in the B6? He went with euro I believe.

Jim those are good results. Just more seat time for some crisper shifts a little help from the DA and your in. The mph was very good so the car has the legs to do it.

It’s funny I listed 4 B67 S4s in the 12s all motor.

Then there is the jhm car , justincredible, cabracco , 91gl…every singkw B67 car in the 12s is JHM tuned.

Nice runs Jim, send me a PM if you head up to NED again I’ll likely be heading up that way some night.

Thanks and will do. I’d like to get up there once more this spring if there’s a night that will be cool enough. If you head up there let me know as well. What car would you be running?

Saki, So do we only need one time slip or two with similar times? It seems like a lot of people have been posting just one recently.

2 is ideal

some people post a timeslip and a video.

If someone has XXX mods and runs a very normal time for those mods, and only posts one timeslip because they only kept their best one, I don’t think we should exclude them from the list. If they’re posting a record for a platform etc. it will need much greater scrutiny.

Here is the ‘rule’ from the OP of this thread…
