Ah, I was running 100 octane Sunoco on the race tune, full tank. I drove around 10mi past empty before filling up on 100, then drove another 40mi or so to the strip so I’m thinking it was mostly 100 rather than 93. On the other hand I had the spare wheel in the trunk and had 41psi in all 4 corners so that probably hurt a little bit.
I had been running 12.0x all night, then decided to switch from LC to side step and mash to get this time.
Moogas1 B8 S4 12.19 @ 113 on pump
Paul F C6 S6 14.00@103 on pump (car was almost totally stock, however not stock wheels)
Shizzrock B8 S4 12.01 @ 115 on pump
Kouzman C7 RS7 11.44@121 on pump (stock Rs7 record)
acturater, you need an intake for your car. It’s a modification that has been shown to help, for a reasonable price.
Get an open element intake. The guys can chime in on which one is best.
Thank you saki. Yeah I’ve been looking into intakes, roc euro and AWE in particular. Might go with the AWE sometime down the road. I signed up for a race event at Pocono raceway here in philly sometime in August, and I might throw that in there when I put in my new tires, brake pads, and brake fluid flush.
I’d listen to primetime for how to launch the car (like you did on the 11.93) and reap the rewards
lw parts are the next obvious things, rotors namely. Your stock brakes are probably good for another year or so though. Stick with them and look at LW ones when the rotors are dead.
exhaust mods seem to be a waste of time and money on the B8 S4
tune
pulley
intake
lw rotating parts (wheels, rotors, tires)
cooling system
in that order, seems to be the way to success. Tune is huge, pulley is significant, intake is very helpful, rotating parts are every little bit parts, and cooling ensures you’re always fast. That gets you all the way to first place on the list (auditude4.2).
Spending another $2000-4000 on exhaust proves to be primarily a sound modification with nominal performance gains.

I really think this car has 12’s in it with some better driving. Transmission might be a little tired and the 1-2 shift is getting more and more difficult. In my previous trips I had been running LW Enkei PF01’s with Conti summer’s. I had never managed better than a 1.93 60’ and would either bog or blow off the tires if I tried launching at a higher RPM. I decided to try my winter setup which are 17" Moda ??'s with Conti extreme winter contacts run at 42 psi. I think the soft compound of the winter tires helped a ton with controlling the launch. On earlier runs I did use LA but only managed 60’s in the 1.9’s. Overall I’m pretty happy with the results and after 4+ years with this car it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Edit: Looking through my videos and slips I did get a 1.82 60’ with LA
Driving sounded ok. Maybe just a DA bump and a good launch and you’re there. I went 12.99 @107 with a very similar modlist to you (same colour even!) it I had pretty much perfect conditions. About -300 da and no wind, sunny track for grip. That was almost my best of 15 passes that day. Everything else was 13.05 or slower.
Something lots of guys don’t get a chance to do is to play with shift points. Shifting at about 6600 or so was best for me. I learned that from Jason @ JHM.

Higher than which rpm… You didn’t say.
I had success at around 3200-3400 but my best times were with launch assist. Consistently 1.82-1.85
Edit:nevermind the la question, just saw where you described it.

I think a little better DA would go a long way. There is a noticeable bump in power as soon as the temp dips below 60. The lowest it got was 65 on Wednesday and to me the car felt only average.
I have messed around with that and found the same thing. Shifting at 6500-6600 gives me the best results. On my best run I did short shift 1-2 at 6000 so I probably left a little ET on the table there. In car video here.
On previous trips when I was running my other wheel/tire combo I would almost always use LA. Sometimes it would bog, sometimes it would break the tires loose but never better than a 1.93 and just didn’t feel like I was getting a good launch. When not using it I tried launching between 3500-4000 with similar results. Back then I might have had an intake flap issue tho.
I did notice the track was in MUCH better shape than any other time I’ve gone. There wasn’t any gravel or shredded rubber being picked up on hot tires. On my best 60’s without LA I was trying to dump the clutch at about 3300 on the upswing.
EDIT: I looked through my slips and videos and did get a 1.82 with LA on one of my runs.
Thanks man, that’s some good insight. You’re right about it being forever since some exciting results. Has anyone else broke into the 12’s in the last two years?

Jim those are good results. Just more seat time for some crisper shifts a little help from the DA and your in. The mph was very good so the car has the legs to do it.
