jake sent me a video. Lots of cars there. Not a lot of blistering fast times early on as it was DA 1500 or so.
The fastest cars he mentioned at 730 pm was a red tune/exhaust RS4 that went 12.5 and a stage 3 B5 that went 12.4.
Not sure what happened after, but it cooled off nicely, so there may have been some good results. It got down to DA 700 feet by about 10pm.
Think the fastest of the night was a 12.240 @117.85 from the b5s4 avant on e85 f21’s GIAC tune.
My clutch is completely dead now, so i couldn’t run my car. Ran a 16.8 
after the clutch gave out on the launch i had a very difficult time to get the car even to move off the track even at a low rpm. Was able to make it home fine.

the good news is, there’s one company that makes a decent aftermarket clutch for your car lol
12.24 on alcohol, big turbos etc? That’s got to be disappointing for the guy. It’s amazing how the B5 has gone backwards over the last 5 years.
the blue JHM car that may or may not have been there with half an engine …that car ran 11.1-11.3 @ 127+ 5 years ago on K04 turbos, race gas and regular bolt ons including some RS4 (OEM) parts.
It’s incredible that today…5 years later…a success for the B5 is running 1 second slower than the original stage 3 package.
There were B5 S4s there last night that were running high 15s…and they were working just fine. It’s such a sad platform today. Used to be full of axe murderers. Now when I see them at the strip I always ask them to lineup so I can video my car putting 20 car lengths on them. Any time any B5 or 2.7T trolls pop up, I just direct them to my playlist of newer cars obliterating the limping B5.
What year will electric start to dominate drag racing? It would be nice to get results regardless of atmospheric and astrological positions.
jspazz pointed out that in theory, electric should do better in ‘shit’ DA. less resistance (as nominal as it is).
electric is excellent for 1/8 mile racing. Otherwise, top end is king at the dragstrip. You have to spend $150,000 to get a tesla into the 10s (if you believe their marketing…they’ve proven nothing). That’s a tall order.
You can get a brand new Mustang into the tens for $50,000. There are a few Audis you can do it for $100,000 or less.
But Tesla will fully warranty a car in the 10’s. Doesn’t even need fuel so there’s no incremental cost to taking it to the strip. Every run is free.
This is going to put pressure on Audi to start selling their cars with full factory tunes. There’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to check a box on the B9 S4 and get 425 HP instead of 360.

Also, when you drop $150,000 on a car (or $50,000) what’s $3000 a year for fuel? You’re desperate. You called it a Cadillac the other day. OK. Go buy a CTSV and obliterate the tesla in every race other than a short sprint from a dig. And GM will warranty your CTSV.
p.s. you live in San Francisco. Nearest drag strip is where…Sonoma? Think you could make it there, race all day, and make it back? Doubtful. When you push the car, the battery life shrivels

Ok, it needs a $9 charge instead of $9.99 a gallon for pump 100 octane. Most places except your house will let you get a charge for free, including Sonoma raceway which is 40 miles by car from downtown San Francisco. The cash price for a ludicrous mode Tesla P90D is $111k in the United States.

- why are you using made up charge numbers? Electricity costs can vary 500% state to state.
- why are you using race gas numbers? Those cars I referenced run pump gas, thanks very much.
- why are you using the manufacturer lies on what ‘mileage’ you will get out of a charge? People who take these to tracks and dragstrips and who travel on highways report drastically reduced mileage numbers vs. the claims.
Reality? If it will cost you about $10 as you claim to go 100 miles roundtrip and run down the battery at the dragstrip, the guy in the RS7 will probably spend about $20. Is this difference really worth it? Maybe if you’re broke. Which you’re not if you’re driving these cars.
That RS7 owner will absolutely rape you in every performance metric if he’s tuned, and will match you if he’s stock. He will destroy you at speed, and will murder you in luxury and quality. And looks. And sound. And driver experience. And dynamics. And he won’t need to be leeching off the already broke government with a bunch of stupid grant money. Oh and he has a trunkload of cash because his superior vehicle is actually $25,000 cheaper.

An S7 is $25,000 cheaper than the best Tesla. An RS7 is $25,000 more than the best Tesla.
You know Tesla’s new roadster is going to do a 9 second quarter mile for $100k. You know Audi and Porsche are going to need to make performance hybrids to match this and the parts cost is going to exceed Tesla.
No one puts in $20 of race gas, unless every RS7 owner really is a senior citizen. They fill it up until the pump clicks off at $100. Or you can get a 20 minute charge for free in the electric car as long as your leisure time is worth less than $350 an hour.
