RS4 brake pads: recommendations please

I hate my stock RS4 brake pads. They squeak enough that I feel like I`m driving a fucking city bus. Sounds ghetto as fuck. Anyway does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement…and did the stock pads on your car squeak (or am I just lucky).

Car will not be tracked at a road course, and is daily driven. Not much hardcore braking however I dont want to give up bite etc. Brake dust is a right pain in the arse on this car...however again I dont really want to give up bite. It would be nice to have a lower dust option if you can think of one.

Thanks for your input.

I absolutely love the Akebono Euro pads on my car now. They have the same bite as stock when cold, and a more uniform feel. The best part is there is NO dust. I ran the tail of the dragon at SoWo last week and my wheels were still clean after 11 miles of brake stabbing lol.

Looking on tirerack it looks like they only have the Akebono’s for rear fitment. I guess the only other very good option is the Ferodo DS2500 which are like stock?

idk I don’t own an RS4 so wtf do I know

My vote for street pads are stop tech. I will add the disclaimer that I have only run these and stock on the street… And carbotech xp 12 on track…

Stop tech have minimal dust and great bite on street and a good price…

X2

I also have the Akebono Euro pads on the fronts and they are awesome. I just bought some rear pads because my wheels look like shit after a week with the OEMs. They are priced well on Amazon.

I’m running Hawk HPS (street) pads on stock rotors, front & rear, without issue. No more low speed squealing and much less brake dust. The noise was my reason for changing out the stock pads.

Hawk HPS up front
Stop Tech for the rear

No squeel ever.

HPS = very little dust. StopTech for some reason is creating a lot of dust.

Bite is very good for daily. Even repeated high speed stops and stabbing the pedal on “rides through the twisties” was impressive.

I also have StopTech’s stainless lines.

Are you down to the pins? They can cause a nasty metal on metal like sound.

I will be trying out StopTech’s up front when the current HPS’s are done.

The OEM pads I’ve had on my S4 were TRW’s which were just removed and replaced with Pagids and Textars. No complaints about any of them, good bite, no noise but epic brake dust lol. I see on partsgeek that they are available for the RS4.

Akebono’s were an option for me, I didn’t realise they were low dust.

Do NOT get the HPS if you ever plan to track the car.

Ferodo does sell the DS2500 for the RS4. Alternative might be the Porterfield R4S – another solid pad, very similar to the Ferodos.

Do you have an RS4? If so where the fuck are the photos of it?

welcome to AR

Ultra low dust. The difference it amazing. Not sure if they work for the track though.

+1. Had these on my STI and loved them. Some dusting, but less than stock RS4 pads. Great initial bite.
