Finally got around to installing the H-pipe last night, very easy job, an hour max if you have access to a lift. I am very very impressed by the improvement. With S-mode on it is much much louder but with it off it sounds very close to stock. I am going to upload a comparison video shortly, just have to go and warm the car up and hook up the go pro… Should be uploaded in the next hour or so.
I alwyas found H pipes to have more of an “american muscle” sound and less of a rhaspy euro sound.
I LOVE the sound of american muscle cars so i wont complain
cool sub, looking forward to seeing it (hearing it)
where are you located?
Saki I am in CT, fairfield county area, about 45 minutes out from NYC… April 7th there are a bunch of people meeting up for Dubs on Defrost (audi/vw/bmw car show) at sherwood island in Westport… also the following weekend New Canaan is doing a car show called caffeine and carburetors on April 15th. Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Audi.
It just rained here so Im going to wait a bit to film the video… i just spun all four in first and end of 2nd… even though this pipe doesn’t really make any performance difference, sure as hell makes me feel faster ;D
here is the stock exhaust before the ECS H-Pipe…
After the ECS H-pipe install… its a little long at 6 minutes, but I really take her for a ride. I will try and take one more video from the top of the trunk see if the harmonics come out better.
Most of the time S-mode is on… right in the beginning its off. its nice to have both videos up on the screen at once, let one play then the other… its a beautiful difference.
I’ll watch those at home
Have you posted photos of your car in the official photo thread?
Also is the RS4 catback not one big piece like my old B7 S4 was? i.e. didn’t you have to cut into it to get that h pipe piece in?
I have not posted pictures of my car yet. I will clean it up nice and get some pictures taken soon.
Yeah to install the H pipe you have to make two cuts. If you are thinking about doing it buy 2 exhaust clamps from audi since the ones that come with the pipe are garbage… its basically loosening 8 bolts, making two cuts, then tightening 16 bolts… If you wanted to go back to stock i would guess it would take 25 minutes to put the stock resonator back in… Imagine the ECS pipe with a huge factory resonator in the middle… thats what the stock one looks like.
your tips are sticking out like the car has a boner lol
hahahahh yeah i noticed that… may have to go back to the shop tonight and make a cut… BOING!
A few more angles, wind noise kinda gets in the way on some but if anyone cares to watch hear they are.
http://youtu.be/X1BgtOyiPPs (trunk mounted) least wind
http://youtu.be/Ub2j8c3P-gM (rear window) more wind
http://youtu.be/ncx-Uzs_VwI (rear passenger side window) most wind…
