RS4 sticky clutch

I replaced the stage 4 from JHM with another stage 4 bc I love the bite and lwfw. Also keep it mind it wasn’t just the grease(who knows if it even was, but when my tech took it out, it was thick, chunky-the grease giving us the idea that guide sleeve rode on it and causes stickiness)

Also my pressure plate had a backed out rivet just like mistro and that other extea wide body rs4(iirc, Ron?)

Long story short, JHM covered me for a pressure plate and the clutch disc was in great condition.

Absolutely saki, but this is what I think was the issue in my case.

I do also run Motul RBF600 fluid.

I’ve been running RBF600 since I had everything installed 20 months ago.

Iirc you have an s4 with rs4 pressure plate and had sticky clutch?

sorry, you replaced your JHM clutch with what? the same clutch? So you just needed a new pressure plate?

Did you get the 5r pressure plate, or another painted stock RS4 pressure plate?

when did you do this?

I bought a whole new clutch stage 4 from JHM bc I wasn’t sure what the exact issue was.

The 5r isn’t out yet and JHM said I have no need for it.

I did this about 3-4 weeks ago.

Sorry i make a new post, this app isnt giving me an “edit” option. I changed the friction plate and reused the old lwfw flywheel

Yes, but my sticky clutch symptoms seem to be slightly different than most people’s sticky clutch symptoms. Might still be the same issue though with a slightly different outcome.

Well if you do drop the tranny. Take a $150 hit and change the fork, t/o bearing, plastic piece, and some 6 bolts audi has listed for a clutch job.

That’s already been done. Didn’t help when it was done.

Solved mine by changing the vacuum line… upgraded version, so order brand new and not a sitting-in-stock item. Mine was ordered in late 2011, removed 90% of the problem.

^ Which vacuum line? The clutch fluid line? I believe Axel has the USP stainless steel lines (as do I) and still have the sticky clutch issues.

Mistro u still have the issue?

Interested in more info on the vac line. I know on ls1 cars if you made too much power you jeeded to upgrade your hydraulic lines and that fixed it. Also guys did the slave on rhe car side not the transmission side

Two different issues. One was the clutch was not disengaging properly, resulting in a stiff shifter. That was resolved.

The sticky clutch issue is where, under the conditions sakimano described in the initial post, the clutch pedal does not come back up after a shift - you sometimes have to pull it up manually. This has been around since I was stock, just like the others.

Is there a chance this issue can lead to the other issues…

Haha

Haven’t throughly read the recent posts in this thread, but my old G35 had the same sinking clutch issue that the OP reports, which was a known issue with the G.
An immediate flush of the clutch fluid usually remedied the issue, but some people (on a rare occasion) had to replace the master cylinder.
It happened to me so I did flush and replaced the clutch fluid with DOT 4 or 5.1, which fixed the issue.
GL with fix.

Sorry, replace the master and slave.
