danny…thanks for posting. As I mentioned in PMs to you last year, apologies if I came across a bit rough on you…unfortunately you took the brunt for PES’ bullshit. The runs at Crail were awesome to have as data points. Not as useful for comparing to other dragstrips that are IHRA/NHRA certified and setup, which is what I was trying to convey (but which came across as writing off your trips to Crail) but in your case, far more convenient and invaluable as a way to have fun with the car. Also was great to compare the 3 setups. The MPH gained with the TTS kit is MASSIVE. Clear winner.
For guys here, I PM’d danny the other day after seeing the 11.7 @ 124 and was giving him the congratulations, and he wasn’t happy lol. he wanted them (MRC) to drive his car MUCH harder to post a killer time. Good stuff.

- The guy in the M3 is running drag radials. That’s irrelevant…who runs drag radials on the street?
- what octane gas was the guy running? It’s conspicuously absent from the video.
If you want to stroke the cock of M3 owners, that’s cool, but let’s look at the facts:
At the same track (sacramento) on 91 octane gas and a 91 octane tune (quite limited) an RS4 ran 12.2 @ 112.
Give that RS4 owner 93 octane and a 93 tune and that changes quite a bit. Give him some race gas for even more fun.
Give that RS4 owner a set of tiny LW wheels with drag radials and again that changes ET a ton.
Drag radial times and no interior times are kind of irrelevant in this discussion. It’s not apples to apples. it’s not even apples to durians.

11.8 @ 118 - 100+ tune, 100+ gas, drag radials
Anyone who thinks that’s a useful comparison hasn’t likely spent much time at the dragstrip (or is in denial).
Props to the M3…that’s fucking awesome for an all motor 4.0 V8 though.
Also add that that m3 is with a DCT trans which are shit loads faster than even the most skilled drivers.
I know for a fact a bolt on m3 has gone 121… I cant find the video… 112-118 is a big difference in mph I roll raced JHM rs4 in my buddies bolt on e92 and it was not pretty 4 cars by 120mph from a 40 roll.
Drag radials is what ever one with power and rwd runs on the street here. My buddies M6 is on a MT et street and he daily drives it… drag radials make for a better et and a worse MPH
Where as this isn’t an M3 discussion. The fact that the DCT is a 7 speed also puts the ratio’s much closer together than a MT6, so a seamless change and kept in the powerband with less rev drop is the perfect way to a fast time. Together with a light car and sticky tyres it had to pull a good time and it did. My S2000 with stock engine, transmission, just a clutch and C38-81 and MT et’s ran 11.01/129.6 before splitting the diff. but this isn’t the post for that either ;D
Whose “JHM RS4?” What did that particular RS4 have from JHM? When and where did this roll race take place?
light weight rotor. exhaust light weight flywheel and a tune. also no rear seats. Last year in orange county california.

What plugs are you running on the supercharged rs4 ?
Would be a good idea to go one or two ranges colder.
Also rods and pistons are pretty good . You might get some room to push boost with a de-comp plate or thicker head gasket .
Of course 112 vs. 118 is a big difference. Race gas vs. 91 is a big difference too. Better ET does not always equal worse MPH. That happens sometimes, but it’s a bit of a dragstrip legend. Check the spreadsheets of data we have here for clarification. Hell check the previous page. Best MPH was best ET for the TTS RS4 out of their three runs. 124.0 vs. 124.7. Again though, discounting the difference between race gas and california 91 pump is silly.
If that guy pulled his backseats out at Famoso, I assume he did the same at Sacramento. Again…rice. The RS4 that went 12.2 ran full interior.
As for drag radials being ‘normal’ at the strip for cars who are RWD, that’s great…but what happens when him and the RS4 line up for a dig at a light? Is he going to say ‘WAIT WAIT…LET ME GO HOME AND GET MY DRAG RADIALS!!!’ So why the fuck are we comparing the RS4 results on street tires? My STOCK RS4 blows the tires loose every time I launch at 300 RPM. If I had drag radials, I could imagine seeing 1.7 60 foot times and shaving 3 tenths off ET without trying too hard.

And if all that matters is MPH…let’s get these two cars together. If the M3 goes 11.85 @ 118 and the RS4 goes 11.7 @ 116.5, who do you think is going to be cheering in the car at the line, and who is going to yell FUCK!
Get that M3 owner to show up there with his backseats in, his street tires on, his California 91 tune and 91 in his tank…and let’s see what he runs. Till then, kudos for a great run, but don’t use it to make a judgement on the RS4.
