RS4 Supercharger Argument

saki you keep slippin man… you forgot the novidem supercharger too lol

http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz269/NY07RS4/Random/Novidem.jpg

Dammit Richi! You stole my ace!!! LMAO.

^^^That looks similar to the JHM Vortec unit.

At least they found room in the engine bay

Wow that Novidem setup looks complicated as hell. Lot’s of fancy billet brackets.

I wonder how it performs?

We need to send them a pic of where jhm mounted their centrifugal charger and then a picture of theirs with ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccckkkk in a caption at the bottom. ok i’ts not that funny

at the time when it first came out i sent em an email regarding price and they responded back with something like $32,000? i gotta look back through the posts from the time. it made modest power from what i remember but was run with a piggyback system
http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac317/richib86/ScreenShot2012-02-10at64052PM.png

That thing looks like something the jhm Vortech V3 would eat for lunch. Or shit out the next morning.

that blower and discharge pipe (in the pic with all the parts laid out not the installed pic) are fucking tiny, doubt that kit would run very strong

Beem did you see the map for the rotrex c38 from the TTS MRC kit, and my guestimates about it? Any thoughts?

After seeing this picture

http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac317/richib86/ScreenShot2012-02-10at64052PM.png

I completely agree

$32K for ^^^THAT!?! I need to get in the RS4 supercharger game…lol

what kind of boost do they claim to run at? 10psig manifold with their design is probably gonna be 11psig at the outlet max, so like a 1.75 pressure ratio… its going to be in a pretty shitty efficiency island. the rotrex’s are funny, they scale well vertically like turbo, but are not very broad in their air flow… honestly it looks like they are going to undercut the max efficiency islands with this motor, its better suited for a smaller motor where it’ll build boost quicker (due to the restriction of the motor)

if I knew the pulley ratio is would be easier to make conclusions

Regarding the TTS Rotrex supercharger kit. Some corrections need making.

  1. TTS use the C38-91 NOT the 81. The 91 makes 0.63 kg/s or 1853 m3/hr which is far more than any other system currently.
    http://www.rotrex-deutschland.de/images/stories/pdf/Rotrex_Technical_Datasheet_C38_Range_V5.0.pdf
  2. GOD states that the Rotrex is running to 140,000 rpm but its not its running to 90,000rpm and has different pulleys on the S5 to the RS4 to ensure its not overspeeding for either rev limit, so the efficiency remains high.
  3. The MRC RS4 has run on several different dyno’s and always runs over 600 bhp crank and Dyno Pak’d at 480+ hub. Go on RS246 forum to check out their figures.
  4. The Rotrex kit comes with fuel pump mods (the only kit that does) to give the fuel required to make 600+ bhp. which says it all.

the fact that one guy with a PES M90 kit and another with a M112 and w/m and NOS have both junked their kits in favour of the TTS kit and quote ‘the difference is night and day’ may give some credance to performace gains.

When the weather turns i’m sure there will be 1/4 mile video’s to prove a point, until then those who think dragracing is king will have to wait.

hey horsepower, thanks for posting. You’re the TTS dude right? In any event, welcome and thanks for the information. THe compressor map for that blower looks pretty awesome. HOpefully you guys are able to get lots out of it.

So the one dyno that we’d be familiar with showed 480 hub-dyno horsepower? Traditionally hub dynos are about 2-5% higher reading than wheel dynos like the mustang, so I guess we could assume the kit would be anywhere from 460-470 whp. That’s awesome power. It has been theorised that the RS4 can handle a bit more than that. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

A few questions

  1. any other ‘traditional’ dyno results (i.e. a wheel dyno like a mustang or dynojet)?
  2. when will you guys get the S5 and the RS4 out to Santa Pod? It has been open for a couple of weeks
  3. is this one of your cars? If so, any comments on the pull?

    Thanks!

edit: you’ve replied to the 3rd question in the other thread.
No way was this a TTS Rotrex anything. This is just some spurious video to discredit MRC and TTS. There’s no shot under the hood to show it was even anything but stock.
Good enough and as I kind of suggested above your post in that thread. Wonder what the hell is up with that video then. I’d love to find out who posted it and why. It’s on facebook so it shouldn’t be hard to track down I guess?

My S5 has gone from 232 ro 486 hub hp on the same Dyna pak and he stopped the run at 6500rpm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpXSdrPTWQ4

Regarding 1/4 miles, i’m desparate to get to the Pod as you are. I hoped last weekend BUT unfortunately JHM only sent me a new pressure plate and I needed a friction plate as well. My JHM clutch as been a curse for over 4 months and I was hoping for a solution before last weekend. It appears the original JHM friction plate was mismade and the auto adjustment has been locking down over a period of 2-3 days of use, eventually I cannot disengage my clutch. I have had the clutch out 4 times trying to digest what has been happening. Now we know. JHM are fixing it. Shit happens but why to me???

did this work?

If you’re asking whether or not there is an image present in your post the answer is yes.

So the race I mentioned above turns out to indeed be a TTS Rotrex SC/MRC tuned B7 RS4 according to the guy who posted it up.
i am sure it has the tts kit with the rotrex, the owner told us its a centrifugal blower, his friend was also boasting about the 25000 GBP the paid for it. i wish i popped a picture of the water-intercooler it was anodized red with TTS logo. The car has french plates, its a wagon.
The 600+ crank horsepower (on the tuner’s dyno mind you) B7 Rs4 Avant with TTS Rotrex SC kit tuned by MRC got hooned by a C63 with a tune and full exhaust. The C63 is probably making about 550 horsepower at the crank if that.

This is a great thread… I am hoping that my next car be a RS4 wagon and i would put a blower in that in a heartbeat because when it comes to performance stuff I hate my money and I just want more power!!!

lol the Audi tuning scene is a great place for people who hate their money.

that wagon in the thread I mentioned above bought a PES SC kit using an Eaton M90 supercharger, for around $15,000. Then he ditched the M90 as the blower is too small and went with an Eaton M112 retrofit…and shipped the car to KMD tuning to get the job done. He lives in France by the way lol. Then he ditched that blower kit and bought the TTS Rotrex unit that was on his car in the video when he got walked. I wouldn’t be surprised if he sells that kit (or the car) soon.
