I think(?) it sounds about the same, maybe a little more of a tenor note to it? One thing I failed to mention was I only had to cut the plumbing behind the muffler. I had the front removed at the the slip joint where the down pipes meet the tubing to the muffler. That way I only have to weld it just behind the muffler if I re-install it. Of course that required some pipe bending. I’m going to put the car up on some ramps today and see if I can get some descent pictures today.
P.S. If you want to keep your sport exhaust in “Sport” at all times simply go into trunk, under left rear floor, and disconnect this plug as seen. Sorry, picture is upside down.
Sky good for you looks clean and I’m sure it helped the car outside of how nice it sounds. Math wise the X isn’t in the best spot for performance but I think it’s probably better then what was originally there.
This was a good mod but just be careful. It’s great your excited. Just stick with a that excitement and remember everyone on this site has been in the same spot you were. We are all 4.2 NA lovers. The performance parts will come just wait. And make sure to ask and bounce ideas questions off the guys here. When you look all over the net. All the world’s fastest audi 4.2 guys are on this site. And all of them are happy to help if you need.
I’m not sure I’d write I’m excited, perhaps just a little sense of accomplishment? Cheap mod for some good results! I finally determined that it’s a 3 inch X pipe that was installed, note the slip joints created by the shop. Personally I’m not too optimistic about future mods. Read that only about 900 a year of these things come into the country plus they are no longer going to be produced. Regardless, I knew that when I bought the car. I’m planning a trip to CT soon and then taking it to NM in a couple of weeks. Can’t think of a better car to do the trips in. Thanks.
