RS5 faster than pretty much all competition...

… At the car and driver lighting lap on vir.

Good to see. I guess good old ‘4.2 fail’ winning again will confuse some people.

9 seconds faster than the 335
1.1 seconds faster than the m3
2 seconds faster than the 1m
five seconds faster than the new s6
0.5 & 0.9 seconds faster than the m6/m5 respectively

Random thoughts:

  • B8 chassis + crown gear diff + 4.2 FSI seems to be a good combo.
  • The Boxster S is a 3000 lbs car with 315 hp at about $70k. Theoretically more nimble but the RS5 with the “heavy” V8 up front still keeps up.
  • Good to see the Jag putting up good numbers

That jag is $130,000 I think. Probably has a 100 hp advantage too.

Look at that chevy!! :o

Cts v coupe slower than the sedan by 2 tenths. Interesting

That’s typical I think with the v… I have seen that happen a couple of times now.

Difficult to compare across years. It’s fun to look at though.

Funny how the V8 R8 isn’t any faster.

Yup. The rs4 was quite slow when they tested it. I think they have standardised it more now that it is getting popular.

Maybe there is a year on year decrease in times as the drivers get better at VIR. Maybe.
