RS5 - Stabilization Fault, TPMS Fault, and Sport diff Fault

Hi all,

Chasing down what is seeming to be an electrical problem with my RS5. Initially had a code to replace the MAP sensor, after doing so the three dash lights stayed away for a day but are now intermittent. After scanning again with VCDS there was a code stored for low idle which pointed me to replace the purge valve (N80) but unfortunately I’m still getting the three dash lights. I’ve seen similar combinations of dash lights for other Audi models on other forums and the solution usually points to electrical/wiring harness.

I recently scanned again and did notice a stored code for the fuel tank cap Lock and Unlock, Open to Ground. This is referring to the actuator. I have ordered a replacement and cross my fingers that this is the cause.

Any thoughts or Ideas? Thanks in advance!

I inspected the connection point for the MAP sensor but the wiring seems to be in good shape. Curious if this could be battery related? Battery was last replaced a little over five years ago which has me leaning towards poor voltage to particular sensors causing them to go off and on.

Has anyone experienced this or something similar?

I would probably show energy save mode in VCDS if the car had been sitting for a while and some related errors due to systems being deactivated by that. If you have been driving daily lately and since swapping could be the battery, still. If a moist place currently where you are at could also play in although in my case that has knocked out things completely. Intermittent maybe is pointing to the battery. Did you get the Volta factory battery?

Been driving daily, but haven’t actually grabbed a new battery yet as I’ve been trying to pin point the problem. I will be stopping at Audi today or tomorrow to pick one up since the current battery probably needs replacing anyway. I have a picture of measuring blocks for the battery in VCDS and will post it once I have a minute.

Battery life 017-019 is explained in the workshop manuals, which will only give an indication.

If you didn’t already, clear all of the faults and take it on a short drive then rescan.

Have you had a carbon clean or any work done to the car lately?

Just a quick update: I think I have solved the issue by cleaning both throttle bodies. I replaced the MAP sensor which was the original code coming up, and replaced the battery as it was six years old and needed replacing anyway. After almost running out of ideas, I decided what the hell and pulled the throttle bodies off. After inspecting them, mine were covered with buildup. After cleaning, reinstalling, and clearing the codes, I have not seen any codes or lights for 4 or 5 days now.

My thought was the TB flaps not operating properly as the dash lights and MAP code almost always came on at low RPM and when coming to a stop. Thanks all for your help/input!

Glad you got it sorted and it was a simple fix of cleaning the TB.
I’ve had mine of 3 times now in the last 18 months and have cleaned them every time !

Unfortunately having this issue pop up again.

I noticed that there sounds like some air coming from somewhere near the oil filter housing and possibly around the PCV valve, but really hard to pinpoint it. Took it to my mechanic to diagnose and they were not able to provide a solution. They likely want to smoke test, and start pulling the wiring harness apart to see if there’s a short somewhere between the MAP sensor and the ECU.

Anybody else dealt with this issue? Any thoughts?

Current DTCs: MAP sensor (replaced), Brake Pressure Sensor (had some water in the connection apparently, but was blown out and not yet replaced). These two keep coming back after clearing.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, did you end up finding out what was the issue ?

I was helping a semi local guy that had this map error.

I removed cleaned the throttle bodies then did the adaption. That seemed to work for a short term. After the code came back. I did a smoke test found a decent leak from the intake. Fixed the leak and so far all has been good.

Summery. It seems like even a small intake leak or PCV leak can get this code to come up depending on the outside ambient conditions.

I can confirm the errors come up at the slightest leak. could be in the best case a connector around the manifold not put back in after carbon clean or the intake manifold needs to be torqued. some vacuum hose not fully on.
