S5 V8 superxharged stage 1 results from jhm.

Sometimes I’ve thought us S5 guys get forgotten. Apparently not here’s JHM doing it again. They’ve now decided to help bring one more supercharger option for the S5. Let’s be honest the pickings are a little on the slim side now that APR is no longer offering the stage III kit for the S5 due to the possibility of damage to the motors at such high boost levels. The only other real option was going to be JHM and now it looks like that’ll be able to happen for those of us who’ve been waiting.

It was posted on this site that the JHM stage 1 supercharged S5 was able to go 11.8@119mph

I know I’m excited. I’ll try to get thr full list of modifications the car had and post them here later. Just thought I’d make a post pointing out we now have something to be excited about. The RS4 kit is 7999 I’d be surprised if our S5 kit wasn’t the same or less.

Stock wheels still?

Aweseome!

OK, JHM have supercharged the S4 first, now the S5. Next logical step is the S6.

Come on guys! all it is is an extra two cylinders. It can’t be that hard. LOL

I am officially volunteering my car as the guinea pig.

You need a username change v10s6

That would be too insane!!!

Meet the new wheels, same as the old wheels

LOL That would work

Can’t knock that price!

I’d like to see how stage 2 compares to the 1740, please correct me if I’m wrong but APR hasn’t had any issues specifically with the V8 S5 have they?

Boost levels as far as I know as a lot lower than say the 3T S4?

I believe they have had troubles. Specifically with Genesis Racing & Development/German Automotive Tuning’s S5.

They were running 15 on the rs4 I haven’t heard anyone say how much APR was running on the S5. Regardless APR isn’t selling any more supercharger kits for the S5 or Rs4

True, if you can’t even buy one then there isn’t much point comparing them.

I’ll sell you mine ;D

By the way, now JHM has listed their 2.5" exhausts for the B8 S5 V8/3.0T and B8 S4 on the website.

Actually Arin and the APR tuner first shrugged us off saying that boost is irrelevant. Sounds like their smart assed tuner and ARin was repeating what he said. When Arin thought their tuner knew what he was talking about, I can see why he’d like the cocky answer. Now that we know their tuner is not that good, I wonder if that exchange is something Arin regrets.

When asked repeatedly, they reluctantly showed a boost gauge showing 14.4 PSI on a TVS1740 RS4 in alabama on a 60 or 70 degree day.

When we asked about what that would mean on a car in the northeast when it is -10 degrees when the air is far more dense, Arin @ APR said ‘oh, we tested the kit in cold climates’. When we asked SPECIFICALLY where they tested it, he revealed they tested it in Australia…not exactly cold lol.

I checked the area he claimed they did their testing and it showed average LOW winter temperatures that didn’t even get below 40 degrees. Arin then dubiously claimed that one of the cars was from further south in Australia (south = cold in Aus winter) however again, this is NOTHING like winters we have here. Not even remotely close.

If we were estimating, I would COMFORTABLY say that the APR 1740 RS4 kit is pushing 16 PSI in cold dense northern US, all of Canada and northern continental Europe during cold winter months.

Just revisiting this thread guys. I know I’m late to the party but looking at installing the JHM kit on my late 2008 S5 4.2. Anyone who’s done this got any tips/suggestions for me?

Carbon clean if its bad

Never too late to the party. Its a never ending party. Are you going to be ding the install yourself.
