S6 Projector lens replacement question

Hello,

I purchased some replacement projector lens for my '07 S6 but I can’t figure out how to remove the projectors from the headlight housings so I can get to the lens.

With the headlight removed and the ballasts removed I see 1, maybe 2, screws that seem impossible to get to but I’m not even sure they are what is holding the projector in.

Here is a picture of mine opened. If anybody could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it!

I got a set of the Morimotos last year too and have the same problem! Darn AFS lights…

i change them also

there is 4 torx bolt, and for pull out projector you must find some angle and pull out with some force. they not comming easy out or in.
for removing lense, bentoud this small pieces and remove ring

@audis6, did you have the AFS headlights as well? I didn’t see any torx bolts once the back of the headlight housing and the ballast was removed. Could you point them out in the picture I posted or are you saying once the ballast is removed you can just pull out that entire assembly?

Yeah, I looked too and couldn’t find where the AFS unit even secured to the housing… I’m guessing like you that his was a non-AFS projector.

I’d retrofit some Morimoto D2’s in there or something, but I don’t think you can code out AFS errors :frowning:

So what has anyone done to increase light output in their car. I got new headlight but wasn’t sure which bulbs to get or upgrade ballast or do something

swapped the stock bulbs for 6k 35w bulbs. I’ll probably step up to 50w if I can find em. I really really don’t want to cut the housings open, but I might end up doing it - the drivers side lens is getting really cloudy

What do you mean step up ? Change the ballast out or ?

yeah - 55w bulbs and ballasts.

I’m pretty positive that just replacing the lenses and cleaning the schmutz from the projector bowl will give me the output I’m looking for though.

cracked open a non-afs A6 headlight, and you can see the 4 screws to pull the housing easily accessable - pretty sure this is what audis6 is talking about…
