S6 tires

I was wondering if anyone is running value tier summer or three season tires or are just sticking to the big name brands?

Reason for the question is i was quoted 365 per tire for Conti’s and 370 per tire for Michelin’s which i was expecting and is not a surprise but i have a customer of mine that is a tire wholesaler/distributor and i can get 4 265/35/R19 for $370.80 plus tax. Any thoughts from you guys would be helpful. Thanks

It’s a tough call… Although tempting at that price! I personally wouldn’t… In the UK we call them tires ‘Ditchling Finders’ although it really depends on the make and the type of driving you do… Tires will always be a personal choice! If I was to go budget I’d go Avon ZZ range! I’ve tried and tested them in a few cars… Uniroyal do a great tire also and it’s pretty cheap… ‘Rain Sport 3’ I think it’s called! And it’s getting awesome reviews…

I’ve ran “discount” tire brands like Achilles ATR Sport and they’ve been every bit as good as any BF Goodrich/Goodyear/Michelin tire I’ve ever had in the past.

I don’t track my car, so I don’t need a super grippy tire. Naysayers will say what they want about cheap tires, or say that they aren’t safe, ect… do what your budget allows.

Also had good luck with Kenda KR20 Kaiser Tires on my old S4. Decent tire.

I’ve used private label tires for years on my b5 considering they wear out due to the camber and they have performed just fine in snow/rain/dry…I wouldn’t track these tires but daily use is fine with me.

Tires are important, I don’t know enough about tires to know if I can think about it like I think about prescription drugs (brand name / generic) they’re even more important. At least Doctors / Pharmacists recommend the generic stuff to save funds. Would Mechanics tell us that? hell nah!!! lol

I think about tires like this: they are the only thing that should be touching the ground with a car and while I may not always need great tires, there will be times that I do. I would rather have something and not need it all the time than need it and not have it. Same train of thought goes for tools, condoms, guns, booze, women, etc.

So for me, I prefer Michelins. By the way guys, do yourselves a favor and get some lightweight wheels if you can because the stock 19s are like boat anchors.
