S6 weekend power improvements

Thanks dude! You don’t sound uppity - I’m here because of AudiRevolution’s reputation.

I’m hoping headers will be the start of an interesting fun power build. I’d love to see the belt program resurrected but I can imagine CountVohn has a lot of projects on the go. So just headers for now. I’d actually like to be able to talk to you and CountVohn about what next after headers, and pushing the limits of the Tiptronic, since you had (or have?) a hella fast Tip car. Maybe even get my Tiptronic “Bullet Proofed” by Level Ten as part of the build, instead of changing it out to a manual. Tips shift faster than manuals, right? So maybe better to keep the Tip (?).

you sure you need to pull the ECU? Can’t flash?

Need to get it into their shop for final production files per jhm.

Need to get it (vehicle) into their shop for final production files per jhm. Was really hoping to be able to find a more convenient means but if thats what they need to get the tunes setup right then so be it. Figuring a time to drive or ship the car out.

The good news is that after you get the car back with the JHM tune, you will absolutely love it, and wonder why you waited so long.

Ya, willing to go the extra lengths needed I guess. I’m sure it will be worth it to me. And I just got the car in October and knew jhm tuning was first thing on list. Just need to be patient I guess.

Why did you say in another thread with respect to factory air (except allroad)? Don’t like the style or chain driven 4.2? Just curious.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you are asking

I hear the mufflers are installed now!!

No need to buy the noise-cancelling headphones for the drive home! I wonder if it woulda made any difference lol

I was just saying that I might consider some other cars with factory air suspension like some C6 A6 or the S8, but I would never buy an Allroad for the factory air suspension.

The Allroad factory air was plagued with issues, and most people who own an Allroad will have to pay big bucks to keep repairing it, or have it replaced with an aftermarket suspension kit (usually coilovers).

The Allroad 4.2 engine is great. It is essentially the same engine used in the B6 S4, from what I have heard. So, not issues there.

Ya the factory is suspect. Nothing that arnot replacement air springs wont resolve. I will do so when time comes. I would never replace with coils though.

Are the other factory air systems less prone to issues than allroads?

I am not an expert on the C6 A6 and S8 air suspensions, but when I researched them briefly awhile ago I remember people saying that they are a simple and well designed system. I didnt hear of any complaints of well known points of failure, like the C5 Allroad stuff.

I love the idea of an air suspension, so Ill probably try one out someday. Right now the main thing holding me back from doing it on the v10 S6 is the cost, and the fact that I installed H&R coilovers on the car when I bought it in June, and haven’t even put 500 miles of driving on them yet.

Maybe in a year or two Ill swap them out with an air setup.

The C6 A6 wagons usually had air suspension and the front air springs would fail just like the C5 allroads. They looked like a bob sled when the front end was sagging low.

The A8/S8s/Q7s would rarely ever have an issue with the air springs but when they did it was usually the rear air springs that would fail.

Good to know!
