Nah, want a 6-speed coupe that I can throw around, since I already have a nice 4-door sedan… Wife will need a replacement for the A4 in a year or two and I could see her driving the S4 and me picking a new S6 or RS variant if avialable but for now I am sticking with the RS… I have a feeling it will do alright at the dragstrip…
Sorry, little bit of sarcasm there as there is a school of thought that this is abusing the car.
Either way, $90k well spent! What does an E63 AMG or M5 run at the 1/4? Another 10% in terms of price but probably the nearest competitors? Or would that be another E class or 5 series?
I’m trying to line up the P-box information right now. It’s totally different. Firsts run I just loaded it’s showing 11.8’s at 121 MPH (these were not the best runs either). I did not use the 1 foot roll out.
Edit, never mind… that was old data collected from the street the other day. No wonder it wasn’t lining up!
It still won’t line up perfectly Arin. The pbox is weird.
I’ve had it show me I’m going 1 mph when I’m stopped
I’ve had it show me the elevation at the same spot is 8 feet lower on one run than it is at the exact same spot on the next run
I’ve had it show me I trapped 112 when I trapped 109 (and 106 when I trapped 108)
That’s another reason I don’t think we should be reliant on the pbox or 60-130 stuff to tell us what tuners are doing it right. It’s a fun tool…but it’s very basic and amateurish. If someone wants to spend the $2500 on a real vbox and let someone independent review the results, sure we will start to find it usable data. But otherwise the dyno and dragstrip to back it up (as you’ve been doing for two years) is a good way to do it.
Not to say we can’t have fun with the pbox of course. It just needs to be said… It’s not that accurate.
Man that’s interesting to watch. Just takes off. I imagine the s8 will be just like the tuned s7.
Also, my track is also always off one day for some reason. I always wonder why that is. Probably some liability thing. Often the late season stuff has the date in like 2022
What happened on the 116 second long run? Missed shift?
Arin, Very nice! Will watch the video when I get home from the office… Nice 60ft times… I figured they had to be 1.6x with the ET and trap you told us…
Now please go tell fourfinger or whatever his name is on that other site that this car won’t be beating a GTR with just a tune, thanks! LOL
The trap speeds were pretty consistent. They were all in the 116-117 range. On the best run the guy in front of me almost hit the wall so I was stopped before the box for a couple minutes. I threw open the hood, let it cool, and hoped for the best. : )
They may not have known what the car was capable of? Should have flagged you and made you put one on after the first pass… It’s for your safety after all…
Arin, Did the spin happen on the stock or tuned pass? Looks like on the stock pass as the car dipped in the back right slightly and went left… Could be vid angle? Also, where does the car shift at? Seems like 6-6200, 6400, 6400
Can’t wait to see what an exhaust and intake will do…
I think there was a little spin both chipped and stock.
I’ll need to look at ECU x logs to see where it’s shifting.
We have full program switching for this plat form already so I switched via the cruise control stalk back to stock to keep it consistent with what our customers would see.
The updates are port flash able as long as the ECU is not flashed back to the stock file either by APR or an Audi dealer. If that happens, the ECU must be removed for flashing again.
Sunglasses are necessary. Looking directly into Arin’s eyes hurts WayOT forum members, and I’m really just a nice guy who’s slightly misunderstood (I’d never want to do that!).
I think it mainly had to do with the amount of time I sat in line, stationary. I actually left the grounds, drove up and down the street, came back, ran right away, and put down a 117. The coolers work really well from the factory, and IAT’s were fairly consistent on the dyno, but sitting stationary in the line doesn’t seem to help as no air is rushing over the heat exchanger. That’s not to say it can’t be improved. I’m not sure it would be a big seller, but we’ll be looking into a CPS system like we offered on the S4.
You are correct! Only an APR stage 1 ECU upgrade. Standard 93 octane fuel from a local Shell station. no other modifications. Stock wheels, stock tires, full weight, fully loaded S7 with all the bells and whistles. I drove the car and I’m right around 200 lbs.
