I live in Ontario where we get temps from -30 deg C up to +35 deg C. I’m thinking Motul 5w40 8100. I don’t have (touchwood) any oil consumption issues on my RS4. The Motul is what seems to be the choice in the B6/7 S4’s, esp ones with oil consumption issues.
Other oils I’ve seen - Castrol (the german stuff), Lubro Moly top tec 5w30, Lubro Moly race tec 10w60
I know this has been done to death, but just wanted to know what everyone’s thinking is these days.

Nah, I don’t use Motul.
dparm pretty much recommends Mobil 1 0W30 for everything.

what oil do you use Axel?
Somewhere along the way I read that Shell Rotella T6 was really good, so that is what I use. You can get it at Walmart in Toronto, and it sometimes goes on sale. I think people were saying that it doesnt burn away as much as other comparable oils.

Yup, Dparm on AZ is the oil god. I run Mobil 1 0w-40 in my S4. Whatever it is, just make sure it is VW 502.00 and 505.01 approved and you should be good to go.
Yeah he used to recommend the Motul but apparently something about the esthers in the oil changed or something so now he recommends Mobil1.
I’m still using Motul on mine.
Liqui-Moly Top Tec 4100. Never given me any issues. I do replace it every 5k kms though (3k miles).
I usually use/used motul, but when in a pinch I’ll run to autozone and pick up some mobile 1 or castrol syntec.
