Seattle drag: October 5th @Pacific Raceways

just noticed who the latest member joining AR is. Did he come to the track…NSFW guy

You went pretty good mph on pump and with no transmission tune right? Wonder why you’re not picking up much mph with race and the tcu tune.

12.20 @ 113.64 on 92 octane
Vs
11.91 @ 115.08 on race

Picked up the normal 3 tenths et though.

Is the da much different?

No, he had to bail. Wish he would have come though, love to see the comparison.

My car has more speed in it, it just felt tame today for some reason…

-1200 was the da on 91 pump

If we ran in the morning when the air was still good, I would have easily gone faster. Not to mention no hot lapping.

I gain at least +25whp when the O2 sensors are hot.

12.2 was stage 1

Nicely done breaking into the 11s! I wish I could’ve come as well but I ended up not being able to make it.

I’m definitely interested if you end up going again sometime.

J, agreed on the LC comment… It seems to hold at 4Kish rpms for a good second or so after the car starts moving… Also, noticed the car short shifted the 1-2 that probably cost him a few hundreths… I would like to see how the car would launch if LC is engaged but you dump the brake right at 4K rpm before it hits it’s target value and holds, almost like sweeping the revs and using the brake as a clutch on a stick car if that makes sense? Wonder what the logs look like from a bypass perspective while LC is in use? Shifts seem a little slow/soft compared to what I am used to but again tough to tell on just a vid… I guess I’m still not sold on the DSG tune but hard to tell via video and as you mentioned the gearing is another change that I am not used to. I know I mentioned this many times but the B8’s gearing is much better setup for the strip…

Also, feel the same about hot lapping the car just seems to run better especially if you don’t have to sit at all and can get air to keep moving across the heat exchanger… sitting for a while definetly raises IAT’s and hurts performance…

Like you said good stuff either way and glad he is in the 11’s!

My track must have just added it, there is another TNT October 20th.

I am planning on going. I will do no lc passes. Pray for no rain.

Ok that’s a huge difference (the DA)

On the dyno my cars hp jumps considerably from the first pull to the third pull, with just a fan on it. I don’t think it’s just my car, as tuners witness the same when I’ve quizzed them.

When I did the 12.2 pass, it was on the third pull in a row at the end of the night (and no launch control lol).

As far as short shifting in first, it was worse prior to the dsg tune (1k lower)

that’s awesome well_armed…another car in the 11s. I love it…with the big-geared B8.5, looks like youre barely at 6000 rpm at the traps, no wonder your mph is lower than most. Launch control is strange to me, looks very tame. Very curious what your car will do without it.

From looking at countless logs, the hot lapping really helps the IM stay cool, more than anything else. IATs stay in the 30s or 40s at launch, and on average run 10 degrees cooler throughout the run.

Congrats!

Congrats on breaking into the 11s! Good stuff.

Interesting wellarmed, how close in succession were the dyno passes? Curious to see if IAT was climbing or not, assuming there’s no logs though…

Guys, thinking again, while the b8.5 launch seems tame to those in a B8, he’s got big gearing, so the RPMs just seem more tame but the speed must be there. Maybe the B8.5 is actually going through the 60’ in 1st while we’re shifting at the beam…scratch that, just watched the video and the short shift evens that out.

Also the other shifts, I agree with prime, seem tame compared to my car and other B8s that bang them out hard. Seems to almost be a bit of clutch slip there? I wonder if it drops timing off during shifts like the B8, maybe it keeps the power on and slips the clutches instead…? All guessing.

Can we move this thread to the B8 S4 section, maybe Todd or someone can comment what’s going on here…

On my way to the track right now. I brought my laptop to log. Weather is so good that my wife gave me the go ahead.

Hopefully i have enough fuel to make it there

Nice! Conditions appear to be pretty good… Look forward to the logs… 11.8x!
