Secondary Air Pump or SAI rebuild? remove?

I have an allroad on its way out the door, I first am replacing the valve cover gaskets, plugs, yada yada yada… Not too long ago I had the high speed whine of the SAI impeller of death shreek going on in the cold months. It stopped, which means to me it died. I bought a block off plate but may save that for one of the allroads that are staying. I remember someone talking about rebuilding theirs. Is this possible? Where can I get the parts? Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the thorn in my side:

No suggestions?

My only suggestion is that finding a replacement shouldn’t be too hard. Lots of part-outs so there are probably plenty to be had. I’m pretty sure I have one in my garage.

Sorry I don’t know how I missed this. Most people just plain remove the Sai. It’s for cold start up emissions for the pre cats. If your leaving in your pre cats. And why would you do that. But if your leaving in your pre cats you should keep it. If you are going to remove the pre cats or already have its doing nothing. And it’s best your just simply remove it

My local auto electric shop is taking a stab at rebuilding it, they said it looks doable and for under a $100.

I would delete it, however I am selling this car and looking to remove all the tripped codes and CEL’s. I currently own another allroad 2.7 that I will be deleting the SAI as I install a set of piggies.

Got it rebuilt for $42.90

thats a great deal. For a part most people throw away its good to know it can be cheap to fix
