oh snap, ceramic brakes? I’ve never seen that on any RS car here. Only an R8. Pretty cool.
did they show up in the sales price? i.e. was it an obvious premium? In Britain there are a couple of guys who buy used RS4s regularly, and focus on ones with ceramic brakes and other partable modifications/options. They then sell off the buckets, ceramics, FBSW for $10,000, and then sell the car with standard RS4 parts, and profit. The ceramics/buckets and FBSW tend not to help the price more than a couple grand…but the brakes alone sell for thousands of dollars on the classifieds.
works well if you don’t pay 13% tax on used car purchases like we do here. Sucks.
you can buy standard RS4 interior for $2000 (max)
you can buy an RS4 wheel + airbag for about $500
you can buy RS4 brakes for about $1000 (max)
you can buy RS4 stock exhaust for $300-400 (or arrange a core swap with someone if you have a car with Milltek you sell)
Cost = $4000 max
Buckets interior $4000
FBSW + bag $1000
Ceramics $5000
Milltek used $1000
So you’re generating $11,000 and it costs you $4000…and at the end of the day the car was maybe $1000-2000 more than a ‘normal’ one. So you’re looking at $4000-5000. You can drive it for a year or so and sell it for a break even.
Yes, $6k as per build sheet. I actually didn’t want ceramic brakes but when I saw this car I said what the heck!
Nice! Send me the link please! Would love to hear/see its current state. The person who bought my car was from Toronto, very nice people and I know they are taking care of my ole ride!
once the rs5 is a bit older and aftermarket parts start showing up for it ill likely make the switch too. I love that car but I never keep anything stock.
the guy across the street from me has a black one with black optics package and the rotor wheels. Looks great.
He has never really pushed it much. Drives it a lot but just normal driving. He jokes that the only time he puts it into Sport mode (dynamic?) is when he is coming to a stop because he lives for the sound of the sport exhaust + rev match downshift
No doubt I should have kept the RS4, I hated selling her but I had too in order to scratch that Porsche itch that I had. I babied that car to death but I have to say, Audi’s exterior paint and interior finish makes it quite easy to keep them looking new. Although I regularly washed and detailed the car, it was driven through 3 solid winters and never quit…always looked good regardless of the weather outside.
Your right, there isn’t much out there today, aside from exhaust and suspension. APR came out with a tune but it only adds something like 8hp on the 93 octane map and 16hp on the 100 octane map…not worth it IMO. Most out there seem to be doing exhaust.
Thanks man! I promise to get some more photo’s up soon. Were supposed to get some great weather tomorrow, so I’ll get her washed up and snap some more pics for all to see
Dynamic is the only setting I ride in. Love the feel of the steering and yes, the rev matching downshifts with the sport exhaust is pretty cool!
I never thought I could do the paddle shift but seeing how most sports cars are going this route, I figured I would have to get into it at some point…it’s actually not that bad. I use the paddles as much as I can…the shifts are so quick a seamless…no jerkyness or, misses etc. Very smooth.
For all of those that were requesting pics, I was able to get her washed and snap a few quick shits with my iPhone earlier today. Forgive the lack of photo skillz…
