Selling my 997TT For and RS5....

Up until last June I owned this beautiful Ibis White Audi RS4 - had it for 3yrs and decided it was time to move on however, I miss her still:

End of October I picked up this bad boy, stored it for the winter and am now after only driving it for a few weeks am very seriously considering selling so I can jump back into and Audi - the RS5:

I can’t seem to rid the desire for the creature comforts the Audi offers, especially the new RS5. I loved what my RS4 had to offer. Appreciated the way it drove, sounded, was convenient to take anywhere and in any type of weather. Don’t get me wrong, the 997 TT is a great car but it lacks interior finish and “gadgetry” which is something I knew before I purchased the car and thought I could live without - I have quickly come to realize that I was wrong. I also prefer the way the Audi drives - the Porsche is a beast but I don’t drag or track my cars so that’s no longer a desire for me. I thought long and hard about jumping into an RS5 after I sold my RS4, but I didn’t like the fact that it did not have a 6-speed manual option. The paddle shift is starting to grow on me.

Any way…guess I am wondering if anyone has done the same? I love the TT but find myself now looking for an RS5 to move to. I know I am posting this in the Audi forum so answers will likely be biased, but I would still like to hear real world feedback from those that have been in my situation.

Spoken by two guys who have likely never owned a 911 turbo before…!

Truth of the matter is from the looks of his location, he doesn’t live on a race track. Therefore he needs his cars to be able to do a number of things for him, and going flat out fastest doesn’t appear to be the most important.

So while a 997 turbo is definitely a better sports car it’s not necessarily a better car for life.

I have two friends who owned, and sold, 997s in the last 2 years. 1 sold a 997.1 C4S and replaced it with a new Range Rover. The other sold a 997.1 GT3 and replaced it with am E63 s.

So while the porsche is excellent it’s also a compromise 90% of the time. I can understand.

Turbo’s can be great daily drivers. GT3’s are meant for the race track.

I love my 996tt, but I probably wouldn’t own it if I didn’t have my jeep.

Sell the 997tt for a 996tt + tune and go pick up a JHM rs4 lol. But in truth, the rs5 is a killer car that’s hard to argue with as an all round daily driven sports car.

Yeah, it’s perspective, I suppose. But still, a good problem to have (deciding between keeping a 997 TT or getting a RS5). ;D

Bang on Saki!

The turbo is indeed an amazing machine but I don’t drag race or track my cars, just don’t have time - simply enjoy them daily. I could get a 3rd vehicle and save the 997TT for weekends and nice days etc but I refuse to have a car sit in the garage half the time and winter - been there done that…never again. The Porsche is very capable of winter driving but it is not practical for me.

If I get border in a few years I can always jump back into a Porsche Turbo - perhaps a 991? First world problems, I know. Kinda lame but I have been trying to convince myself to keep the Turbo but it’s not happening, despite the cry’s of “your crazy” and “Porsche > Audi”…I get it and expected it posting on an Audi forum.

Closing in on a '13 RS5 with only 18k KM’s and with every option you can imagine - deal should be done by end of next week. A very nice 997TT will be available very soon.

Hey gang - bringing this one back from the dead with an update! I did it…recently sold the 911 Turbo and found the perfect (to me), used 2013 Audi RS5. I picked it up last week and have been enjoying every minute behind the wheel. This is the only pic I have of the car right now.

Loved the 911 Turbo, what a car but not for me, not as a daily driver. I missed my RS4 shortly after I sold her a few years ago and always wondered about the RS5. Glad I made the move back :slight_smile:

Thanks Saki! It truly is perfect in my eyes. Option’s on the car are exactly the way I would have ordered had I purchased one new today.

I’m so torn… both yours and psychotic’s RS5’s look amazing. I agree those options are absolutely perfect!
