I don’t think it would be an issue with the tune, but more the issue with me…(if i don’t get into the 11’s) don’t forget I won’t be launching the car either…(weak clutch and no funds to replace if i blow it)

I used to drive an SRT-4 and the trick with those was to shallow stage, feather it out and half throttle first gear and short shift to second. That was a smaller turbo though, spool was quick even in second. Those were so problematic because of wheel hop in first gear that you didn’t have the option to really launch the car.

high 11s would be a collossal disappointment to me for a 600 horsepower car. Seriously…wtf are we expecting so little out of these Tial cars for? They should be absolute fucking axe murderers at the dragstrip.

There are a few full weight B5 S4s in the 11s on pump gas. NONE OF THEM make anywhere near 500 whp or used meth. Meth is effectively an octane boost and when you look at the tune it’s like a light race tune. These 500 whp cars should move the fuck out.

he’d be wise to privatize that video…he’s going 130 mph + in a 40 or 50 zone lol.

if I had to guess it was a 60 zone but I didnt think mexico had a speed limit…

I don’t mind going to the track and seeing what this thing can do, I just don’t want to “learn” how to drag the car and have to pay for it later (meaning breaking axels, clutch, or other things…)

From what I see, that most of the people with Tial or bigger cars are not seasoned vet at the strip whereas it seems more K04 drivers are seasoned…

I don’t think its that the ko4 guys are better I think we read where the snowtrooper guy made attempts with 605 cars and noticed they were not faster then BW turbos. I just think the scoke of the Tial turbo is better seen after the car has some RPM and a strong amount of air for the filter to suck in.

A turbo can be a great turbo and still not do well in the 1/4 mile. While I agree that I have never seen much use for a high RPM high spool needed turbo sounds like the tial turbos fall into that catigory. Not the worst thing that can happyn. Look at the supra cars with big turbos. They seem to do the same thing the tial turbos do. They run better uptop then they do down low.

Why do they look so impressive on the dyno. A dyno can add (and will add) load. This helps spool turbos. It seems over and over again we see that the tial turbos are turbos that have this feature. I don’t know why people are trying to run away from that aposed to imbracing it.

Sexican. I see the other side of the coin. The one where your car never goes 11s and you still have a clearly impressive car on the street and highway. If your car flops in the 1/4 mile but runs like a train above 5000rpm if thats right for you then good i say

Believe me, if it was my car and I was driving it. I’d be sorely disappointed with anything BUT low 11’s.

For a less confident driver, who will run it cautiously, high 11’s is the realistic expectation, even though we all know it isn’t truly what the car should run.

However, we’re now in that point where I hope SEXICAN doesn’t take this personally.

Why would you drop so much money on a tial setup and supporting mods, and be worried about breaking a $100 part running at the drag strip? This is just one of the things it sounds like alot of the B5 guys are saying… We’ll drop 10k+ on all these power mods, but we won’t risk a $100 part to take the car and drag it. Clutch is a different story, but you don’t necessarily have to launch your car to run a good time (however with a boosted car that doesn’t spool quick, it would greatly benefit you.)

Anybody can put down a good 1/4 mile time, once you figure out your car, and the best way to run it. With that power low 11’s should be an all day time. For the $ spent, I would never be satisfied with only FATS, 60-130 times, or any of the other on the street garbage. Give me a certified facility with proper timing equipment and a timeslip with in/out of car videos proving that I didn’t waste a cent.

Oh trust me, I don’t take it personally. I’d like to see what I can do with this car, but i’m just never to the point where I thnk i’m going to do amazing since I haven’t done that well the last few times…

I guess like anything, it just takes practice. I’m sure the guys running 10’s in their B5 S4’s didn’t just hop on the track and run once and BAM run 10’s…

definitely not. But if they had a 10s car they probably ran very low 11s without much trouble in at least one of the first few passes. And their trap speeds wouldn’t alter too terribly from the 10.something to the low 11. Maybe a couple or few mph…if that.

I don’t think he’d be able to survive on the mustang forums with a 476 whp dyno sheet without a timeslip to back it up lol. They’re pretty ruthless. Makes AR look like puppy school.

He is has actually never been to the strip. I’m sure he would walk me at the strip. His tires suck and he breaks the wheels looks at half throttle.

His mods are: Exhaust , fueling , cams , smaller pulley on the stock super charger.

I’m still waiting on full details to his mods.

I did enjoy that mustang video quite a bit. Nice work.

I have been trying to run him for the longest time! He kept making up excuses. Not sure what changed, but glad I brought my GoPro with me…

I may be wrong but I believe thats a different car because he sold his avant not the sedan thats got the tials on it…but still havent seen him around here for a while ::slight_smile:

its not that bad, i always have a few. if more than one is heavily modded it gets pricey. stock s4s just need normal daily driver maint.
