if i have to drop the motor (at some point i’m sure i will), the starter motor is definitely on my list of things to replace

Do you have part numbers for the fuse box and rear center consoles?
I bought both of those from ebay I believe. ILR Carbon is one of the manufacturers I got my stuff from, but I think you should be able to find the fuse box covers from many sellers on ebay. Unfortunately, I just searched and I can’t seem to find any for sale on there now.
Here are two other options:
Are they custom heads?
No, just machined. New valve guides I think.
Just to give a little bit of an update. The engine is back in the car. Everything has been resealed. Had to get two ECUs cloned by JHM. Then Jimmy chased a bunch of issues with misfires and sensor issues. Sensors replaced, coil packs, spark plugs, etc fixed. He also chased down a bunch of electrical connector issues. My appreciation for his experience, insight, and guidance has been invaluable. Now just waiting for lift to re-open for some AC seals to be replaced. Then I think we may be good to go. There are some carbon fiber pieces I may need to replace or have refinished, but I think that’s about it. Best wishes to all of you out there fighting through the love/hate relationship of V10 ownership. Keep hope alive lol. Godspeed.
Great update. Good to see such a big undertaking come together like like this. Always exciting to see these big builds
Please share more details on your electrical connector issues. I think these are going to pop up more often now that the cars are 10+ years old––and run hot in the engine compartment.
I wish I knew more details but I’m afraid I’m too much of a layman. Maybe JimmyBones can find time to elaborate later. My understanding is that a number of connectors either degraded over time/abuse, or due to less-than-ideal repair in the past. They survived up until now but better to have everything addressed as it pops up I guess, so Jimmy really helped correct the connections that needed to be addressed.
I have replaced the 2-pin connectors for the driver side cam solenoids. The insulation on the wires were already brittle or gone. But I’d be interested to know what other connectors are likely to fail over the years.
I had to replace almost all the knock sensor wires near the connectors.
Bluetooth setup acquired from http://a2dp4audi.com/ with hardwire kit. Hopefully it works as well as the reviews suggest.
Yea let us know how it works for you
I run the oem aux audi bt unit and I have to manually connect to it every single time, it doesnt auto connect. It also cracks / silence for half a second every now and then, every 30 min. Sides that oem unit “works” sound quality is perfect
I have the Tune2Air WMA1000.
Automatically connect to the phone and automatically starts playing.
Playlists also loads on the AMI.
Plugs in to the iPod cable.
I don’t think I have the ability to play music through my OEM BT because I have 2G (2008 S6). The Tune2Air units seem to only work well with 3G or newer.
Mine works on my 07 2G
Nice. I didn’t know that. When I looked online it said 3G compatible. Good to know now in case I need a backup.
