Long time since the last update. Thanks to JimmyBones, I’ve now swapped for this Imola beauty. Also, thanks goes to Jimmy for teaching me how to drive manual. Can’t give enough thanks. Also, huge thanks again to CountVohn for everything. Best wishes to everyone during these interesting times. Godspeed.

Great looking car and a manual. That makes for fun. Jimmy has a lot of patience and I’m sure you make a great student. A very forgiving system to learn how to drive a mans car in.

Congrats. Those cars still look so good this many years later.

Thanks. Yeah, he has a lot of patience. Definitely helpful. He’s been teaching me in his 2.0T A4. Practice makes perfect I guess. And as always, thank you again for everything you do for me and for the entire community.

Just to keep the thread alive…

Keep the car alive. That yellow was always a great looking color.

Right. All thanks goes to the loving/experienced hands of JimmyBones lol.

To keep the thread alive…

Start up vid:

I need OEM downpipes w/ cats and exhaust to pass state inspection (MD), even though I have the FI downpipes with race cats and catback exhaust. Does anyone have an OEM setup available? I technically don’t need it long term, but just looking for a solution. I have an extra set of B6 S4 (6MT) downpipes (catless) and catback in case anyone is open to a trade or selling.

Found someone to swap with to get an OEM setup. We’ll see Monday if they can pass me on everything.

Flex pipe on drivers side OEM downpipe was rusted through and leaking. Shop it was at didn’t feel comfortable cutting out the old flex section and welding in a new one. Had to have it towed to a different shop that also does state inspections. The main difference with this other shop is that they also do custom motorcycles, so they should feel a bit more comfortable about their welding capabilities. Really just need to pass state inspection so I can have the FI setup reinstalled.

Inspection passed a few weeks back. Got the flex sections swapped on the OEM exhaust. Ended up having valve cover gasket leak on driver side and oil pressure sensor leak (if I remember correctly). Jimmy also put the downpipes with race cats and exhaust back on. Got an alignment. They did the alignment well but messed up on correcting the steering wheel angle after. Brought it back later when I could find the time to have them correct it. Then they found front driver’s side tire was leaking right at the sidewall, and rear passenger side tire was in bad shape. Got two replacements. They didn’t balance the wheels correctly after install so I took it to another place to have that corrected. I think that’s the gist of the updates for now.

Great color and great car. Looking good.

Update:

Got new auxiliary radiators since the passenger side has a slow leak. Will get them installed when convenient for Jimmy after I get the S6 back or when it warms back up (unless i end up needing them swapped sooner). Turn signal on driver’s side stopped working (light worked but wouldn’t blink). Just needed to clean melted plastic off the metal connectors in housing and install new bulb.

Need cylinder 8 coil pack electrical connector replaced. Started getting major misfires while on the highway with cylinder 8 connector being the source of the issue. Will to buy a JXB driveshaft carrier since i was told the original isn’t looking great. Will buy tune from CV most likely sometime over the winter since the only codes I get are related to the SAI delete and race cats. I’m slowly becoming proficient enough at driving manual, so I can probably notice the difference after the tune. As usual, thanks to everyone that helps/helped me keep the dream alive.

Had to replace the last vid since I noticed my plate number was clear enough to see. Here’s the replacement.

Edited the previously deleted short clip…

Cyl 5, 6, 7, 8

Replaced 5 first. Then 8 misfired. Then did 6 and 7 per JimmyBones’ suggestion. Just posting the pics here for archival.

Runs way smoother now of course.

Dam great updates keep em coming.
