So back from the dragstrip... new best...

Went to the strip again today…

Car: 2010 Audi S4 - DSG with sports dif, 5,575 miles, 1/4 tank of gas, tools and spare removed

Mods: APR beta race gas tune, APR pulley, LFC’s, miltek non-res exhaust, custom intake, APR CPS, front and rear sways, BBS CHR’s, tire pressure 34F 28R

Conditions: 54F, 49% humidity, 29.96 BP… DA was 1230… DA was a little higher than I had hoped but I thought that would allow me to cut better 60 ft times…

Run 1:
Got a good launch and cut a decent 60 ft and then had the dreaded 1-2 hangup… sigh… ended up running 12.12 Not a good sign on my first pass of the day… I am begining to think my car hesitates more when it is cold then warm since I had a 1 hour cool down and the car didn’t do it on the other 2 passes I made with much less cool down… Who knows though… Was still very encouraged as I trapped 117.11 and didn’t dump much boost… Still need to do a good review of the logs…

Run 2:
Got a decent launch but only cut a 1.69 60 ft time but the car pulled strong up top and before I even hit the return road I knew I had a new best… Sure enough I ran a 11.9338 at 117.73, so a new best trap as well! I was pretty stoked…

Run 3:
Redlighted as I was racing an high 11 second gutted Challenger and really wanted to beat him, which I didn’t as he ran 11.8773 at 112.91 to my 11.9380 at 117.12 Still happy I backed my 11.93 up…

The track was crowded and cars kept breaking and they decided to do a gamblers race and I couldn’t stay because I have a poker tourney tonight… So overall very happy I got a new best but really wanted an 11.8x, to beat kevkev’s time:) LOL J/K Car ran good other than the one hangup and I am really happy with the trap as I almost went 118 in not the greatest DA… Hopefully, it will be nice next week and I will get one more shot at it… Will see… Again, need to review the logs closer and send them to APR to see what they think…

81BEAR just ran 12.01 on race gas. He’s coming for you! Density Altitude was good at around 300 to 500 feet all day. He mentioned it was very windy (25 mph tailwind) so he was kinda bummed that it might skew the results. Still, 12.01 is pretty badass!

As for kevkev’s 11.83, I’d love to see the EXACT time he claimed to run just to end ANY speculation that it may have been legit (marty keeps saying it was for some reason). Anyone got the numbers or his ‘timeslip’? I’m sure I’ll find it real quick by doing a little searching.

Saki, Thanks man I sincerly appreciate it… Like I mentioned in the other thread David seems like a very good dude as I have actually talked to him on the phone before and traded many pm’s… I have no problem if he beats me and would be the first to congratulate him…

Sounds like his DA was a little better and the tailwind probably helped a little, but DAMN 12.01 on pump… I need to try my car on pump too see what it will do… I look forward to seeing his post…

As for kevkev it was an 11.88 slip… I really meant to save it but didn’t… it was cropped also and I hate to say it but I am 99% sure it was fake… Kind of sad but we don’t need to rehash that… Maybe he will join Rich and Matt Sunday and actually make some passes… I think Rich may break into the 11’s on pump with the headers but his clutch and tires will make it tricky…

Well, I will definitely post something tomorrow just waiting for some images of my times from Kavan before I make my own post. I did want to clear a few things up…1) the 12.01 was with RACE GAS not pump…2) my best ET was actually 11.96 (Ya baby)! I’m going through my slips and trying to determine what was done on pump vs race gas but I will cover all that in my post.

lout, thanks! yeah the blower whine is very intoxicating… people who have never seen me at the track are dumbfounded with what the car runs and how it sounds… pretty funny some of the things people have said to me! LOL

David, BOOM! That is an awesome time! You and I are pretty much even as .03 is almost nothing! I am so stoked for you man… Kavan emailed me and it sounds like he did quite well also… Looking forward to a more detailed post and hopefully some vids and such… did you log? I need to review mine as I had to jet for a poker tourney which I took down, actually chopped with 2 others at the final table but a very very nice payout! Thanks bud, I appreciate it! Counting the 1/8mile passes I made early this year when the back half of the track was too wet to run the full 1/4 I have made 113 passes to be exact! LOL I have made over 1,000 passes in my Mustang! LOL

Thanks man! Yes 100% full interior with a laptop and gopro! LOL I do remove the spare and tools most of the time I go… I’m just not into removing stuff from the car as it’s a street car not a race car… just not my thing to be honest… Sorry, it was actually a Charger not Challenger, I get them confused… LOL But yeah his car was totally gutted and on slicks… The car 60’s great especially for launching off idle… Imagine a real launch control on this car… I actually cut a 1.64 60 last time out but unfortunately I got the 1-2 hangup so it killed my time as I think it would have been 11.8x if it didn’t hang up… Thanks again…

so 5575 miles, of which 27 or so miles were on the strip… so ~0.5% of the cars life has been running down the strip… good stuff haha

It seems for now the S5 is still well behind the S4. While Im looking forward to what JHM has coming it sure is good to see that the S4 is proving to be supersolid.
