Went to Thompson today… What a fucking zoo! They also decided to run things differently so they were calling cars by class and taking forever so I only got 3 passes in 6 hours and I told the wife I would be back in two since it’s our anniversary… We went out last night so she is cool with it though ;D I just needed to watch my son so she could run out as he is sick… It was stupid though they would call people up let them make passes, and then wait to call another group, just not well thought out… No hot lapping was aloud which is what I usually do and can make several passes in 30 minutes…

My Car: 2010 Audi S4 - DSG with sports dif, 7,400 miles, 1/4 tank of gas, tools and spare removed, ran 87 octane:) J/K

Mods: APR tune, APR pulley, LFC’s, miltek non-res exhaust, custom intake, APR CPS, front and rear sways, Alu Kruez, Brembo BBK, JHM LW rear rotors, BBS CHR’s

Conditions: Cold!!! LOL DA was -450 to start and leveled out on my last pass to -250… Temp was between 41-44, BP was about 30.6 and humidity was 50-55% I varied tire pressure on all 3 runs as I kept spinning, which caused the dreaded 1-2 hangup on two passes… I think Jay is right on this…

First pass, launched well but got the 1-2 hangup… Still managed a 1.6268 60ft time, which at that point was my best ever, but the hangup cost me and I went 11.79

Second pass was the best and I launched well no hangup and ran a 11.72 with a 1.6228 60ft time… At this point I was optimistic and knew a record was possible…

Unfortunately, people broke and it got real slow so I didn’t make another pass for almost 3 hours… Another thing there is no doubt this car runs better warm and not cold… Not hot but warm… Anyway, ran an 11.88 with a 1.6530 60ft and got the hangup again… I really wanted to stay but had to bail and was disappointed to say the least… I probably won’t get another DA day like that for a while if ever… Oh well shit happens… I’ll post slips and gopros later as I need to eat… They had so many people the concession stand ran out of food! LOL

At least you’re consistent! Car’s strong either way. I actually wonder if Marin has an 87 tune. You could shoot for the 87 record!

Wow - 6 hrs and only 3 passes! That’s crazy. Glad to see you get out and post some solid times. Sounds like you were about to go on a roll after the second pass. Too bad things slowed down after that. Gotta set your record before the TTRS arrives. Now what’s this I hear about an R8 V10 in the future? ;D

Yeah got there about 1 hour early and planned to run a bunch in a row and then jet… Not happening… To be fair they had a big swap meet which is why I think they did it the way they did… Sad thing is there was maybe 40 street cars but probably 200 race cars and you know how that goes… big long burnouts past the tree, backup, stage, go and in some cases break… There was a nitro meth funny car that stayed on it through the 1/8th then let off… ran a 8.xx at like 90 miles per hour… lol Also, two dudes in GT500’s one was real cool and the other a total dbag… Was talking so much trash as people looked at his car… He walked up to my car gave it the once over and kind of smirked then walked away… Oh he ran no better than 13.5 and lost to a mazda 3 6-speed! ROTFLMAO… Dude in the Mazda was cool as fuck and knew what he was doing, not so much for Mr. GT500… Car ran good with the exception of the shifts… Processing the go pros now so you’ll see what I mean… TTRS should be here this week and then that will probably become the focus until the blower comes out… Yeah probably should have just bought the R8 now but wife wasn’t too keen on it… 60K no problem… 200K why aren’t we buying a vacation home… lol I’m working on her though… lol

Mazda 6-speed ftw!! That’s hilarious. First time at the track this year, we had kind of a big shot sporting a GTi - back seats removed - who was confident of running in the 12s. Dude never ran better than 13.5. That’s why I always try to be modest with everyone before the track opens - (1) don’t want to sound like a Dbag, and (2) it’s always nice to outperform stated expectations.

Ron, too bad, but that 60’ is bloody awesome.

You need to show us all your feet, during your launch, to see how much overlap you use between brake and gas. I’m starting to wonder if you use more than the rest of us…

And your wife is right, you need a vacation home…unfortunately that’s why I don’t get to go to the track much, and will probably take unpaid weeks this year.

Ron awesome runs! Our cars would be an awesome run from a roll- I can’t touch that 60’ :wink:

Funny thing is when I get wheel spin I get locked out of 2nd gear and I guess the DSG suffers from a similar issue with the 1-2 shift. Here’s a video of me at the track with the 1-2 lock out.

J, tell me about it… I thought for sure yesterday would be the day but just not meant to be… If I can find away to mount the gopro by me feet or use my cammera I’ll try… weather is supposed to improve around here and I can do some launches on the street so I’ll work on it… Timing is critical but I have a good amount of practice so it comes kind of natural… There is probably some overlap as I am basically dumping the brake while mashing the gas… I know a home out west would be cool but I get so damn paronoid about owning something far away and having potential issues to deal with… In the end she really doesn’t care about that so much as her parents have a bunch of those time share deals that she uses on occasion… Plus I am a homebody and don’t like to travel much, a cruise or two a year suits me well… I prefer to spend my weeks off lounging around, doing work around the house, spending time with Wilehlm, racing, riding my bike, golfing, etc. It’s more she doesn’t want me spending that much on a car which I respect just need the market to keeping going in the right direction and I’ll persuade her… lol

Thanks Pete! 6-speed probably has the advantage from a roll but certain mph’s may work for the dsg not positive since I haven’t driven a 6-speed car enough… At the office I’ll watch the vid tonight…

By the way has anyone heard from ElRamano, he was supposed to go last night and run race gas with the Revo tune… Hope it didn’t end bad for him?
