I could care less about dyno’s like the vendorzine folks, how about any strip times? What cell count on the cats? Did you guys find the test pipes making more power/running faster at the strip than the HFC’s? I know you had mentioned these to me a while ago so glad they are hitting the market… Looking forward to other products if you guys get more into the 3.0T motor especially with APR kind of up in the air… I’m getting close to moving on from this platform if nothing starts coming out…
I want to see that too but they would probably need a shop car to test it on. Get a upper 3.2 intake manifold and use a very similar kit to the S5 on the B8 S4. It would need to intercooled to keep the B8 S4 guys happy.
Why not? The engine spacing isn’t all that different from the S5s to the S4s. They probably need to make slightly different brackets to bolt to the engine. That V3 blower can pump out more air than the 1320 and probably the 1740 at a lower PSI with cooler air because the JHM intercooler is so massive. Still would be a massive undertaking.
Now think about it from a cost perspective.
SC kit $8.5K
Intercooler kit $3K
3.2 upper intake manifold probably $500 - 1K
So $12K-12.5K. That puts it over the quoted APR 1740 price of over $10k but it is probably more expandable.
What would worry me is all the rumors about APR popping the 3.0T. I don’t think the 3.0T can handle more than a similar stage 2 setup for the 4.2s.
Interesting, didn’t know they were developing much for the 3.0t, glad to see a new product from them. I should go drive over and see how they look in person. I do wonder how much testing was done as 034 had dropped their catted pipe as on option.
True but they’re also popping the 4.2 rs4 with their 1740
Its more a reflection on how they’re going about it than the strength of the engine. 16psi in cool dense conditions is a lot for the engine to handle, especially when the apr calibrator says it doesn’t matter and he doesn’t know the boost levels.
Considering some of the other motor issues we are hearing from Apr cars I think maybe there is something/someone within Apr more dangerous than the 3.0t’s inability to hold power.
