Info. Info now, please. Jake, you here? Called and spoke to someone today. Then called my local JHM dealer to make sure if I hear what I want to, I can drive in and get this setup. I need details.
Yep I noticed it was quietly added to their website when they put my quote together, I’m not 100% sure it’s ready for distribution to their dealers yet though, hopefully they can chime on that. As far as I know it’s been tested pretty thoroughly on several S6’s by now, so even if it’s still “beta” it’s probably pretty much ready to go if I had to guess.
Talked to someone in the office today (can’t remember who it was), and they said I’m good to call my local dealer & get it loaded up. Which I’m pumped for. But there’s really no mention of what the gains are. Was given a bit of information over the phone, and was told I can get more info tomorrow, as the person I spoke with wasn’t too familiar with the details. But, figured, the more info we can get, the better! And getting people talking about it/loading it up can’t hurt.
The gains are probably subjective based on the car getting the tune, and what else the car might have done to it, so I’m not sure if we’ll see figures posted like APR does. I dunno, do any of the other JHM tunes list figures/charts? I haven’t looked.
I should hopefully find out firsthand soon what kind of real world gains to expect, they ran into a minor issue with my car that might delay delivery a little longer (oil cooler leak). So we’ll see, hopefully I can post a good report soon once I’ve played with it a bit!
Talk about it is good your right. All of us that have the JHM tune and those that have switched from other tunes to the JHM tune will tell you its definitly worth talking about. The thing you mentioned is the tough part. If we wait a few days im sure well see the results that JHM has gotten from there testing and since they didnt actually make a public release of the tune I would imagine that they are keeping some of the results quiet for the time being.
If you havent already read this… This is a really informative post. Its long but very informative on JHM testing and how and why they put out the results they way they do
This is what I’ve heard, and I understand that. It wasn’t so much HP numbers I’m looking for, so far as some 1/4 mile gains or acceleration times, compared to stock, if available. And, along with that, I’m wondering what I’d need to do with it. They speak of it being designed to work with an aftermarket exhaust… So now I’m (not so) patiently waiting to see when that will be added, unless I can talk to someone and pry some more info out in terms of timing & price point. Trying to decide whether to keep the car, or get into a stage 2 B8.5 S4 at this point, and this may well help make that decision.
We’ve been to the track already I will note that. We have also done dyno testing like normal, but we don’t typical release that info. However we may provide the ranges we have seen.
The cat back exhaust will be on the website soon as well. We are VERY pleased with the results that have been able to achieve with a cat back.
Very interesting. Does the cat back fit only the S6 or does it fit the S8 as well? I know the s6 stock is much more restrictive but if the tune calls for an exhaust then I’d like to get the full potential out of it.
It does not fit the S8, but that will be coming in the future.
The tuning is adaptive, so it will be a sweet upgrade for a stock car and as you modify the vehicle the tune will take advantage if your modifications!
That is kind of the exact information I’m looking for… Spoke with them again today, and seems I should be into a decent performance increase. My car has had it’s carbon clean (less than 5,000 miles since), plugs, coilpacks, and some injectors replaced all as needed at the same time, so they said it should be an AWESOME candidate for the tune. I’m just torn as to whether I should start putting money into this thing, or sell it come spring and put that money to the B8.5 I was planning to purchase then. Some more info would be awesome, as that’s a tough call to make on just “it’s faster.” The car I was given times on today had ONLY the tune done, and no carbon clean whatsoever (but was apparently recommended/needed), so I’m extremely interested to see what it could pull from my car.
Im actually looking to get into a S6 due to JHMs now involvement with the V10. Generally when JHM gets into a platform its transformed. So I would expect to see a lot comming from them over the next few months and if they actually do a supercharger that would transform the car from mild manor to crazy look at how well the lambos react to turbos the supercharger JHM uses is just a gear driven turbo.
I think I mentioned it above but since there is no actual main release of the software and hardware I wouldnt expect to see the results just yet. For now faster is just a comfort thing to let us know advancements have been made. The results usually come right before the big public release.
