Some good news and some bad news…

Will see how it does this week and then maybe I’ll try that… I’d like to get it figured out as the extra RPM’s and AMAX will help if it works correctly… I only have 2-3 more times left this year to your point so I want to get at least a few perfectly clean passes to see what the car really has in it…

It’s not going anywhere now that I bought the wife a Q5, it will be my next beater when I purchase something else… Maybe next year but probably the year after depending on what hits the market and what I like… Chances are though to your point it won’t be stage II next year!

Ron,

Not sure if you mentioned this previously. But what tires are you running? Why not try a street legal drag radial. Or something similar to what guys run in autocross. It’s still a street tire.

I was looking at getting some myself.

Cheers

Probably because when benchmarking how the car accelerates, it doesn’t make much sense to do so vs a non-street setup like slicks or barely legal slicks. Or removing seats etc.

Personally I feel this also extends to race gas. If it’s not what I run on the street, I’m not interested in how my car does in that configuration anyway.

When you race a buddy in his new M3 on the way home from hockey, do you stop to change tires? To put in race gas? To pull seats out? To remove the catback?

If the answer is yes to any of those then by all means do it at the strip. If no, don’t. That’s my mindset.

i understand your mindset completely. I am mostly of the same. However, I would like to see whats possible with my daily driver, especially being that I drive my car everyday including our harsh winters.

Its a great feeling knowing that your car performs great as-is in its street form, but can dress up a little for the weekend and perform even better.

I am only talking about tires that guys use in autocross, Mainly R compound. Which have 200tw or less. These tires can be driven all day. So if you are coming from hockey, they will be on. ;D

I would only remove seats if my times were close to the times of APRs Stage3 kit, just to say I got there doing the same modifications they did, minus a 10k aftermarket charger.

I also ask this specifically to Ron since his S4 pretty much just sees the track.
