Some good news and some bad news…

So got the car reflahsed yesterday in an attempt to fix 2 issues my boost bypass that I’ve been getting as a result of the crank pulley and my shifting issues in 2-3 and 4-5. Good news is I’m not bypassing boost except in AMAX during shifts which is too be expected. The bad news is the shifts got way worse… I’ll see what APR says and what they want to do about it… Moving forward with some other things for next weekend either way…

My car: 2010 Audi S4 – DSG with sports dif, 9,675 miles with 1/8 tank of gas, tools and spare removed.

Mods: APR tune, APR DSG tune with LC disabled, APR pulley, JHM overdrive crank pulley, 034 HFC’s, Miltek non-res exhaust, custom intake, APR CPS, front and rear sways, Alu Kruez, Apikol dif mount, 034 tranny mount, Brembo 380MM BBK, JHM LW rear rotors, BBS CHR’s, tire pressure 32F – 28R

DA was 640 so not as good as last week but still good

Made 7 passes… Best was an 11.58 @ 121.81 with a 1.62 60ft time. 5 were 11.6x and 1 was 11.7x I did manage another 1.5941 60ft time which is my best ever 60ft time. All traps were over 120 and all but one were 121+

Overall, disappointed with the shifts but happy the bypass isn’t there. I have no doubt with the shifts ironed out the car would have gone 11.4x today. APR is determined to get this right so I will be back at it next Sat. Also, will have other changes next weekend which should really wake the car up… Will see how it goes…

So funny that we’re all disappointed in 11.58 now. You guys have set the bar really high.

It was funny how when Matt was clicking off 11.7s and we are wondering wtf was wrong with the car, when 2 years ago we were giggling like little girls in Bears car doing 11.7something@119.6. I did a couple passes then and couldn’t believe how strong 4th gear was.

Anyhow, you’ll get there. Too bad you can’t just turn this DSG stuff on or off. Would be nice to set a record without AMAX, I miss the fart sounds. But I guess AMAX keeps you above 6000 rpm for longer too, which is a plus. I’m surprised regular DSG shifting isn’t just simply improved (faster, firmer clutch uptake) with the tune.

Should start a DSG thread comparing what everyone is offering and peoples impressions.

J, Yeah fair point, it’s not that I don’t realize the car is fast but given what it did last time out and the hope I had the changes would allow me to do a clean pass and really see what the car is capable of. Maybe next week… lol

I’d personally like to see Prime crack off an 11.3, not sure if that is even possible, but I hope they get these shift issues figured out.

Ron, in almost all the vids it looks like you manually try to shift into either 3rd or 5th depending on what video, it seems after you click off the paddle the car just doesn’t shift until it decides to on its own.

Your RS4 couldn’t give my RS4 a run for its money nor could your last truck. Nice try though!

With his mph and a cooperating dsg tune he’s definitely able to run 11.3

Jeff, I’ll take a closer look tonight as I’m in the office now… I know the first 2 or 3 I didn’t try manually shifting at all but once I realized the tune wasn’t working as expected I started to try manually…

is it just me, or did you crack off a 1.5X 60 foot time on street tires and 19" wheels?

That’s frigging amazing. You can see there were serious problems with the 1-2 and the 2-3 because by 330 feet you’re already losing time even to the other bad shift passes.

Saki, Thanks! Yep I have cut 2 so far… A 1.5941 and 1.5989. I’ve also cut 3 or 4 1.60’s. The best of those was a 1.6015. Honestly, I think I can do a little better!

Agreed on some of/most of the shifts, just need to get those ironed out as the car is running great shifting aside… Will make a post later this week after the changes are made and post some impressions and then the strip Sat. Really curious on how it does with the new setup… Supposed to be 70’s here all week but dip into the 40’s just in time for Sat. Only have a few weeks left to put up times…

On street tires, yes… APR went 1.54 on slicks, no exhaust, and weight reduction so while it counts that’s not how I run my car and never will… My passes will always be street tires and full interior. I am debating buying some very light forged 19’s this winter though and ditching the mid weight BBS’s…

I would love to see you downgrade back to the stock TCU tune and make some passes. Your track is going to close, and then you’re out of luck till next spring. The odds of your car still being stage 2 by then (or in your possession by then) are shrinking very quickly.
