I am pretty sure i am going to have to replace my Cats or prefure to delete them . I do not have to pass EPA test or air care . Does anyone have any info on this ?
Thank you
JHM tune can write out the codes for cat delete
If your cats are bad I personally would buy downpipes before buying a tune to delete them because they will need to be replaced anyways, step 1 would be removing the bad part. Getting a o2 spacer with DP’s will make it so you don’t get a CEL.
Buying a tune to fix a maintenence problem is not the way to go IMHO. I know its not what you want to hear as I’m sure you want the tune but getting the car up to par on maintenence is the first step before buying performance parts and it will ensure you get the most gain from your upgrades.
Who said your cats are bad anyways? they rarely fail and chances are you need new post cat o2’s, what codes are you getting?
I was in that boat a year ago.
2 shops said the same thing.
Rear O2 saying the CATS are NOT doing their job.
So I replaced them with ones from a shop that was the best other then OEMs at $899. each.
So after having NO CEL codes for a whole year I get the same CEL.
Rear O2 saying CATS are not doing their job.
So what do I do? Have the same shop send me replacement CATS/downpipes.
Now I get CEL codes and fail emission.
17526 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S2: Open Circuit
P1118 - 004 - No Signal/Communication - MIL ON
17522 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor; B1 S2: Internal Resistance too High
P1114 - 004 - No Signal/Communication - MIL ON
16534 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B2 S1: Malfunction in Circuit
P0150 - 008 - Implausible Signal
I agree 100%, dont get the tune just to ignore the error. But if you want to do a cat delete, as in remove it, then it would be great because you will lose the code and get a very healthy performance boost!
You could gut the stock dp’s and get the tune for a delete that would be a double win.
OK couple questions . Were would i get the tune and were would i get the Down pipes from ?

If you want the tune you should call a wrecking yard and buy an ECU cuz its a good idea to save your old stock ECU if you ever need to put the stock one back in for any reason or if you sold the car, ship the ECU directly to JHM from the wrecking yard.
Then call JHM and buy the Tune and DP’s and they will ship it to you.
Then you install them or find a shop that will do it.
You can use O2 spacers to alleviate the CEL
