Sound Check! Fast Intentions res exhaust. External mic

Here’s a little video testing out my Audio Technica Mic mounted in between the tail pipes. Normal driving in traffic. Pulled out the highlights. Pretty damn good for $60( bhphotovideo.com/ )

EDIT

You have to listen on something with real speakers…preferably with a sub. Laptop can’t playback the all the low notes.

Nice setup. Any details on how you picked that mic? I’ve been meaning to get one to use with my Cannon DSLR which has external mic input, but it’s just overwhelming with all the information and options out there. I just didn’t even know where to start and what was best.

Saki, you have any input on this, didn’t know if your camera knowledge extended to the audio recording stuff as well.

also, exact like and details about said mic?

I just heard a recording on youtube made with it and googled the model number. Read enough reviews to make up my mind on it. Now I can use the GoPro for every day recordings not just car porn…lol

Nice video.

Great find on the mic.

That’s the way an exhaust is supposed to be heard on a video.

Nice work.

get some foam around the microphone, tape it on, windnoise gone.

^What type of foam are you referencing?

That did sound great. I’m going to look into that mic.

I had the foam on there. I’m starting to think the noises I interpreted as wind was the mic bouncing off of the car. Next time I’ll mount it a little more securely.

I also need to increase the preset volume while editing. Had no idea it was so low.

I’m thinking of mounting the GoPro in the fog light housing for the next run. Should provide an interesting prospective while not looking too conspicuous.

Wow those microphones are expensive. I just bought a GoPro Hero2 HD so I might pick up a mic for it

$60 is expensive?

its invaluable to have good sound without windnoise if your camera is facing forward

p.s. is the old go-pro sound rattle gone on the new models?

Ok not expensive, just more than I would expect. I would expect $25 or so. Moving on…

Ummmm…it is a lot less, you will get it every now and then. I lot of it I think comes from the suction cup mount.

how did you hook up an external mic to the gopro? I didn’t think it came with an external mic input

You have to have the HD HERO2 and the skeleton case. The first GoPro didn’t have the external mic port

bugger.

is it a wireless adapter?

^^^ Nope just a physical port. I bought a 25ft cord and ran it through the trunk. Here’s a pic of a Hero2

EDIT

Since the first site wouldn’t share image links (weird thing is I could see the image on the computer I posted with but not another computer)

LOL^ fuckers, that is an annoying message.

What the fuck? They don’t want people posting images of their cameras on other sites? Seeing an image is more effect advertising than having to actually click the link. I see why they do it though…
