When JHM made the beta B8 clutches Jake hit me up offering one of them to me around this time last year. I had just purchased the APR s/c kit, so when he mentioned ~$2700 I stepped back and questioned it because it was MUCH more $$ as compared with the RS4 one. During the conversation I was thinking perfect timing Im in, but since I did not think it was a deal I didn’t bite. He explained the differences to why it was much more expensive…its inevitable that I will need one in the near future. When my clutch is cooked ill upgrade
^ one thing to consider (and I don’t know about the B8 specifically) but often if you replace a clutch before it’s slipping too badly or abused, the stock flywheel can be reused, or slightly resurfaced if needed. At 2k for a LWFW, I’d question how high up on the mod list it’d be as a priority, if it can be avoided. I loved my JHM LWFW, but not at $2k+.
Jimmy or someone might be able to tell if the b8 fw is always trashed, or has any inherent flaws. But if it doesn’t have to be replaced all the time, it’s certainly something to consider as a preventive maintenance item. Or preventive purchase item moreso lol.
This morning I was pretty sure I’d go through with it. I figured that worst cae scenario at least my synchro problems would be solved for the 1k and I’d get the lwfw. Not so sure anymore, so many ppl saying no no no I’d feel like a complete ass if it did crap out on me. Seller did originally have a pre-pro unit on there but it was changed out to a production unit after they were released. Drove it today, pedal feel was similar to stock. Better/ shorter engagement point than mine but again I have 66k and somewhere around 50 launches on mine so I guess that’s expected. Turned the AC on and heard no chatter at take off or low speeds. Didn’t get to romp on it or leave third.

I don’t see the allure. I mean if the $1000 you’re saving is a big deal to your situation, by all means do what you have to do. I don’t get that impression though. Sounds like a shop you think is cool wants you to do something so you’re going to do it.
Keep one thing in mind - nobody in this thread has any financial stake in the transaction, and they have all told you their thoughts from a completely impartial point of view, with your best interests in mind.
oh snap…is this the same guy who went on the forums raving about the EPL tune (but not disclosing he was from KMD, the EPL dealer…and his car was a beta test car for EPL tuning!!!)

I tried the sb setup with a “race” disc setup (4 puck, no springs). Didn’t work at all… Something was pretty wrong somewhere.
Was that the set-up they released this summer?
The pressure plate and flywheel were, but the disc was a 4 puck setup, which is not what I remember seeing on the forums.
