Spark Plug Choice

I saw a similar topic in my searches but did not get the info I was looking for.

I have a very simple question. I’m debating between the OEM NGK 5547 PFR6W-TG (Heat Range 6) and the slightly colder NGK 5592 PFR7W-TG (Heat Range 7)

I’m not tuned at the moment but I for sure drive my car hard. All the time. 24/7 ;D . It also will be getting JHM tune in the hopefully not to distant future so I am leaning more toward the 5592.

For those of you who have replaced your plugs, what did you use and why?

Thanks! 8)

I went with OEM because I didn’t know any better. I have a coworker who’s recommended going with a colder option since I was looking to add some significant HP. I’d say the OEM were sufficient, however I recently experienced my first misfire(s). After doing essentially all the preventative maintenance besides coil packs that pinpoints it down to coil packs or spark plugs. I’m curious to see what my shop’s opinion is once they can pull the codes (I only own MacBooks currently so not VAGCOM).

If you’re planning to fully JHM your S6, then I wouldn’t see why it would be a bad option. In fact, it may be a great one since we’re adding so much power to these cars. Still waiting to run a dyno on it, but I’d reckon it has to be around 500HP or so… I think.

EDIT: Well… misfire could also be from a bad battery. Lol… gotta love our cars.

I run vagcom on a 2006 vintage macbook. It works flawlessly. Just partition the drive using BootCamp. Load a copy of Windows on the newly created drive and your all set. Great tutorials available on YouTube if you’re not computer inclined (like me).
