Spark Plugs

I know the ones on JHM’s website (NGK PFR6U-11G) Are obviously recommended, and what I’m currently running. However, in an “oh sh*t” situation or where that plug isn’t readily available. What are some alternatives, if any? I know lots of local places have matches in their system but they are cheap copper ones, which I would be hesitant to use. Places that have the ngk plug available sell it for like $25-30 a plug, ouch.

25-30 a plug?? FFFUUUU! That’s retarded. I used to grab any bosch plugs that were cheap when in a bad situation. They work till you can get JHM’s good stuff.

Yea the ngk ones around here are $$$. Bosch would have been the alternative route I would take, good to know.

On that note, someone was mentioning bosch… triforce? something like that. a local euro shop uses them in all their cars with great results. Anyone heard of it?

I have seen those but havent heard enough about them to try them, I say go with what is proven and know that works, cant go wrong then.

Maybe buy 2 sets or even just 2 or 3 extra of the JHM ones and keep a some in the trunk as a “just in case” plug

Yea, I don’t wanna be testing anything unproven lol.

Not a bad idea Lout Jnr. I know a lot of guys keep extra plugs and cp’s in their trunk.

Thought I read somewhere that copper will give you more power but it won’t last as long as some of the higher end plugs, could be wrong tho.

Probably a good thread to bring back up - good read http://audirevolution.net/forum/index.php?topic=106.0

I forgot about that thread! Those bosch plugs with the 4 electrodes look pretty slick

The “gist” of this is true. The copper plugs will conduct spark a lot better but they don’t last as long as the platinum plugs.

OEM FTW

Copper FTW! (required as part of the s/c kit)

But agreed, oem is where it’s at.

I ran the NGK Iridium IX or something like that on my 3.0. It uhhhh…it ran good.

letsbehonestitmadenodifference

Just buy the NGK coppers in a pinch. Only $2 each at your local Autozone etc. and just as smooth as some iridiums I’ve used. I’ve had coppers on my car changed out at 5k intervals for the last 30k miles. No problems at all.

BTW, guess this is my first post and good to be here.

Welcome and great to have you here.

Could you start a thread about your car, are you still running the S/C would love to get more info on that

Nice to see ya on here Ill, haven’t heard from you in awhile. Definitely would be interested in a refresher on your s/c setup that you have(had?)

Yup, had is right. I needed to remove the manifold and blower several months ago so basically felt like since I was barely driving the car I’d take the opportunity to go back to stock. Was thinking about moving to a B6 S4 too but honestly have been happy with it as stock motor. Turned out to be decent timing since soon after that JHM decided to look into this car more. So I’m looking forward to seeing what they come out with.

Man you could give us an awesome perspective if you got say the tune and downpipes, in that you have lots of experience with how the pes sc’ed 3.0 performed.

ILL you had the first version of the tune that PES collaborated with GIAC which didn’t grenade motors. How many miles you put on the SC kit. Also what did you do with your exhaust, i remember 3.0 King had supersprint headers and custom downpipes.

Sorry for all the questions, very curious. Also we need pics

Ill 3.0 MAN glad you found us here. A true oldschooler that knows the path of hard time mods for the 3.0.

great to see you here man.
