Sport button with JHM tune.

Is there any change in the parameters of the JHM 93 tune when the “S” button is pressed?
I can’t tell any difference when driving as I have the vac lines to the muffler valves plugged so they are open all the time.
Just wondering if its worthwhile using it at all.

Good question.

I remember the first customer to get the tune had it back in the day and he said it helped to have it on. 10 RPM/second or something.

When they tune the car, they should be able to tune the throttle in regular mode and in sport mode.

It would be great if the parameters where the same but when pressing the S button it only opens the exhaust flaps if you have them, and keeps them open regardless of gear and rpm.

Yeah, that would be cool.

I was thinking the other way around. Because you need to press the S button to get into that mode, I would argue more often than not you want the car loud, not quiet. And fast, not neutered.

So for me, ideal would be

regular mode = throttle and everything setup for max performance, exhaust flaps open
S mode = flaps closed, throttle calm like stock or something

That way S mode can be wife mode.

From what I remember the s button only controls the throttle the mufflers and on Euro models it does the seats and something with the suspension or traction control…

The jhm rs4 tune on my old.car…when you hit the s button the throttle is more aggressive…Jake from jhm is on here he should be able to tell you more…

It still adjusts the side bolsters on the seats if you have that turned on in the setting menu.
I don’t notice any difference with the throttle and I don’t think the S button changes the suspension as the DRC is mechanically controlled.
I also don’t believe it effects the traction control either.

Kiwi, you have bucket seats with the bolsters that move? Please post a reply here…

The S mode button will make the throttle slightly more aggressive. It will also still function everything that was functioned while stock (exhaust flap, bolsters).

Hi Jake, Do the exhaust flaps work the same way as the std setup, with not opening between certain revs and gears etc even though being in S mode?

Sissy mode…for Canadians

fixed

Haha, in nice neighborhoods if people can’t complain about your car exhaust they will find something else…they will complain that your mailbox is the wrong color or you took your Christmas lights down after the New Year, when you should have had them down the day after…or the wreath on your door is too big.

Life is too short to worry about snobby neighbors.

One more reason that I don’t want to live some where with a home owners association.

LOL - I did get a letter from the HOA regarding peeling paint on my mailbox post.

But never one complaint about my straight-pipe Subaru. So loud, the kids would be outside waiting for me before I turned into the driveway. No shit.

What would be cool would be a lower cold idle like the MRC tune has. I think they officially call it “quiet start” or something.

I lucked out because our neighbour likes the exhaust.

I think.

His english isn’t all that good but one day he said “Exhaust like lion” and proceeded to make clawing gestures while rawr-ing.

I don’t think the rest of the hood is as appreciative though.

I think he may have been making a pass at you Mistro…

It eliminates the high cold start idle and the secondary air injection

SAI is what makes it so loud

Its not a matter of worrying. It’s a matter of respect. When i go play golf at 6am on saturday, do I really need to wake them up to be cool?

This is exactly what I asked APR to develop in their 4.0T tune and pending exhaust option.

Give me full control over the flappys so I can push button quiet the car when cruising around my town or on date night. Nobody wants to put a $3K soundtrack on this (C7 S6) car that you can never turn off…
